About the role

The focus of this position is to support underwriters by providing account risk analysis on, among others, the following industries: Machinery & Technology; incl. Automotive Suppliers and OEM as well as General Manufacturing and - Processing (incl. consumer goods). The main duties are to assist our internal risk selection process and to provide risk engineering service to our clients.

The position particularly entails:

  • Produce accurate, high-quality consulting reports (incl. external publications to costumers), material for education purpose and as technical background information.
  • Support underwriting at client meetings by demonstrating our dedicated risk consultancy / risk engineering approach.
  • Perform risk management consultation, which includes on-site assessments and desk job reviews focusing on risk identification and risk reduction implementation strategies.
  • Maintain and extend technical and professional expertise in order to provide current, innovative and costumer focused services.
  • Perform risk monitoring, identifying industry-specific threats and - trends. Project oriented work to develop and update risk assessment methodologies, checklists and – tools.
  • Maintain collaborative, professional, consultative client-centric relationships; actively facilitate exchange and bring to bear expertise among peers within the organisation
  • Handle requests with a high level of client satisfaction.

 

 

About the Team

You will join Risk Engineering Services (RES), an integral element of Underwriting within Swiss Re Corporate Solutions. We enable through risk assessment and – improvement along the insurance value chain. Our team of industry specialists is located all around the world, dedicated to support our clients and all internal business functions with profound expertise and risk knowledge.

To supplement and further strengthen our capabilities we are looking for a Risk Engineer with specific expertise in general-/ product manufacturing as well as in industrial processes; including safety – and quality management. The position is located in Switzerland or Germany where we do have strong and experienced teams of senior professionals.

 

 

About You

  • Ideally 5+ years of professional experience: industrial experience in dedicated industries preferred (e.g. an automotive supplier company). Experience in loss control and/ or risk engineering is a strong plus. Engineering background: university degree in mechanical-, process-, chemical-, general engineering or related subject area. Bachelor (BSc) - (minimum requirement) or Master of Science (MSc).
  • Excellent verbal and written English communications skills, additional language skills, in particular German and French, are a strong plus.
  • Detail-oriented, superior organizational and time management skills, ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and highly self-motivated.
  • Experience to work in an international business environment and interacting with clients: interdisciplinary orientation preferred.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural, remote/virtual team environment; great teammate.
  • Ability to work effectively within a matrix organization.
  • Demonstrated strong influence management and interpersonal relations skills.
  • Proficient problem solving- and process management capabilities; willingness to constantly broaden and enhance own scope of expertise according to business needs.
  • High interest and proven knowledge in recent technological developments in manufacturing and processing (e.g. Industry 4.0, Internet of Things, AI).
  • Deep knowledge of digital office tools and basic knowledge in data analytics.
  • Willingness to travel (mainly within Europe).
