About the role

We are working at the intersection of risk modelling, data and technology. To handle this complexity, we rely on curious coworkers with an eagerness to learn, who can contribute to the positive atmosphere in our team and develop our risk model by developing themselves.

Do you share these values? Then this position might be just right for you: we are looking for a colleague that is complementing our team as a Risk Modeller!

Our internal model is an outstanding source of risk quantification of all asset and liability risks s well as group effects, such as risk transfers. It has been developed to measure capital adequacy, and we have decided to take it to the next level and transform it into a deeply integrated steering tool.

We believe that it takes a good understanding of risk, underwriting and costing approaches as well as capital frameworks to succeed. The job therefore offers a tremendous opportunity to gain insight into the business steering, risk landscape and infrastructure of a global reinsurance company!

Your main responsibilities in this position:

  • Design and implement improvements in our company's risk models to enable a comprehensive view on risk and integration of risk models for business steering.

  • Understand the existing steering frameworks and contribute to their improvements.

  • Analyse and use data from various sources, such as finance systems, costing platforms, underwriting data bases, required to enable efficient capacity management.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across business and IT functions to design robust and efficient solutions.

We have implemented a state of the art modelling platform over the last years that you will operate, expand and improve. We are passionate about delivering benefits to our partners and are a highly collaborative and diverse team.

About you

  • Strong quantitative background, e.g. mathematics, computer science, physics, engineering.

  • Demonstrated experience in underwriting, risk or actuarial functions, in the P&C (re)insurance, preferably in casualty business.

  • Knowledge of costing methods and tools used at Swiss Re would be a strong advantage.

  • Proficiency in programming in one or multiple programming languages.

  • Working style: focused, well-organized, self-motivated, great teammate, open and curious, quick-minded, fast-learner.

  • Good English communication with the ability to explain sophisticated matters in an understandable way.

We are looking forward to your application!

Swiss Re embraces diversity and equal opportunity. We are committed to building an inclusive team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. Our aim is to live visible and invisible diversity – diversity of age, race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, physical abilities, personalities and experiences – at all levels and in all functions and regions.

We also collaborate in a flexible working environment, providing you with a compelling degree of autonomy to decide how, when and where we work most effectively!
