About the Role


Stargate consultants are shapers that are driven to generate impact using data at scale. Working in the Stargate Center of Excellence (CoE) you collaborate with teams from different areas of Swiss Re to shape the data-driven transformation and solve hard data problems using cutting-edge technology. You will get exposure to a wide array of topics such as Natural Catastrophes, Finance or R&D where you enable the development of valuable data assets, analytics and workflows that allow for superior data-driven decisions-making. You are also involved in the day-to-day operations as well as the long-term development of the Stargate CoE. The role involves strong collaboration with business functions, colleagues and peers within the Stargate CoE and Group Data Services, Palantir as well as third party vendors. 


Particularly, you will:

  • Work with business domains, group functions and individual teams across the organization to shape their Stargate strategy, ambitions, operating models and roadmaps
  • Identify opportunities to build reusable data assets, improve existing processes and deliver innovative solutions in close collaboration with data engineers
  • Ensure a smooth operational onboarding of new teams and project to Stargate including staffing, governance approvals, technical setup, training and support
  • Pro-actively contribute to managing and cultivating a high-quality Stargate project pipeline, shape new projects, coordinate execution with relevant stakeholders and oversee execution
  • Take ownership of selected projects and drive them forward
  • Shape, plan and execute communications and reporting activities for diverse audiences including senior management
  • Contribute to the continuous expansion and improvement of the Stargate CoE's product and service offering, including core group data assets, analytics capabilities and training & enablement
  • Engage with teams across the company, build and deliver demos and foster the adoption of Stargate


About the Team


You will be part of the Stargate Center of Expertise (CoE) which is part of the recently established Group Data Services (GDS) organization.

The Stargate CoE consists of a team of enthusiastic data strategists, data engineers, architects and platform specialists dedicated to realizing the full potential of Swiss Re's data. We engage with all parts of the company, enabling them to formulate and execute data ambitions, to develop group-wide data assets and to provide data-driven products and services to our clients.


About You


  • Master's degree of business, economics or technical background
  • Entrepreneurial and analytical mindset with genuine passion to make organizations more data-driven
  • Ability to structure, organize and drive multiple projects simultaneously in a rapidly changing environment with dynamic objectives
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build trusted relationships within the team and across the organization
  • Ability to translate high-level business ambitions into concrete action plans
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and results in a clear, engaging and precise manner to diverse audiences
  • Proven experience of working in a technology environment. Knowledge about data architecture and engineering principles a plus
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office. Programming skills in Python, SQL a plus
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills 
  • Experience in insurance/reinsurance or financial industry is a plus
  • Experience in agile methods
