About the role


This Claim Expert position creates a role for a claim professional with particular technical and interpersonal skills. Qualified candidates should have significant experience in the handling of insurance claims, with a primary focus on the Switzerland country insurance market. This experience should include a broad knowledge of how this market operates with a main experience either on Casualty or Property lines of business with the willingness to investigate into the other field.


Duties will include handling a broad range of claims; developing & advising resolution strategies; maintaining proper reserves and communicating case status and financial impact to internal and external partners. The role will further support the growth strategy and will have a strong client focus.

The role requires strong technical and analytical skills, the ability to work independently plus excellent communication & language skills. The position will be reporting directly into the Head of DACH Claims.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assessing the application of the terms and conditions as per the applicable contract, and communicating with internal/external customers

  • Recommending appropriate reserves & payments, and escalation in accordance with Corso operating "Claims Handling Guidelines", and recording the same information on the applicable claims & underwriting system

  • Proactively reporting on trends, both financially and legally, lessons learned & creating feedback loops for assigned claims' portfolio, and looking out for industry and legal developments

  • Develop key CorSo internal stakeholder relationships; provide claims support and assistance in driving the growth initiative; become the interface between claims and the Swiss regional sales force team

  • Interaction with other CorSo departments to include: Legal, Products, Contracts & Wordings, Client Markets, Actuarial & Finance

  • Attendance at local market events

  • Regular interaction with outside lawyers/co-insurers on developments

  • Promoting CorSo technical claims expertise and profile in the market and specifically to key clients

  • This job includes after some time of experience the chance to take over a technical lead position in the local market


About you


  • Insurance experience required, with a min. of 4 to 5 years in claims position

  • Strategic & solution focused attitude

  • Good understanding of Financial and Reserving Processes

  • Presentation and negotiation skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to include relationship building, influencing

  • Great teammate

  • Proficient in German & English

  • Proficiency in MS Office, Powerpoint, Excel and good computer skills
