About the Role


The EMEA actuarial pricing team within Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is looking to hire a motivated individual to lead the actuarial analytics for the growing Casualty portfolio in EMEA. This role will have responsibility for the following activities:

  • Provide portfolio steering insight and impactful underwriting recommendations to the Casualty management team through the quarterly profitability review process

  • Research analysis into the external market environment including industry trends, market conditions, and rate change.

  • Working with partners to continue developing out best-in-class rating models and methods by making greater use of our internal assets and exploring broader datasets.

  • Coordinate the rate monitoring process produced by the rating models and feed this back into our profitability and planning analysis.

  • Perform deal level analysis taking into account structure, coverage and risk selection for large corporate Casualty risks and deliver clear guidance underwriting team

  • Partnership with underwriting leadership to provide strategic direction and deal support as needed


A successful candidate will take ownership of our pricing models and be creative in finding ways to improve them. Casualty data is heterogeneous, so the individual should be comfortable working with limited data and be curious to find ways alternative data sources can we incorporated. Also, the role requires developing strong product knowledge and a willingness to partner with underwriting/claims leadership.


About the Team


We are the actuarial team providing support to multiple Corporate Solutions businesses across EMEA. We support a variety of offerings including Property, Casualty, and Financial Products. Key responsibilities for our team include loss ratio projections, rating plan development, and parameter updates. We work closely with our business partners and encourage innovation that supports traditional methods. This role will report directly to the Head of Actuarial Insights for EMEA within Corporate Solutions.


About You


  • Qualified Actuary FIA or alternative designation

  • Minimum five years of pricing experience required

  • Experience working with general or financial liability products preferred

  • Strong work ethic, self starter, and able to execute on tasks

  • Willingness to think about actuarial problems in new ways

  • Good communication skills and desire to work with actuaries as well as business leaders

  • Experience with SQL, R, and/or Python preferred
