About the role

This is an outstanding opportunity to become a Client Manager in the Public Sector Solutions team.


Government entities, international organizations and development finance institutions are becoming increasingly aware of the risks they face and impact public finances. Therefore, they're looking towards the re/insurance industry for innovative risk transfer solutions and risk insights services. These range from micro and macro insurance, to capital markets instruments and weather derivatives striving to close the protection gap stemming from natural catastrophes, climate change, health risks and human-made risk.

To reach our bold growth targets, we are looking for a Client Manager in our Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) public sector solutions team.


Are you keen to engage with public entities and partners with the objective to generate and develop commercially viable business solutions to make the world more resilient?


In this client facing position you would be:



  • Supporting origination of business opportunities with responsibility for developing and handling the relationship and strategy with assigned client(s).
  • Generating ideas and preparing marketing material, proposals for clients, business cases, working together with other departments and in inter-disciplinary teams.
  • Presenting assigned clients the full spectrum of Swiss Re products and services to meet their needs and Swiss Re’s business objectives.
  • Handling all aspects of the from origination to deal closing (including handling of renewals) and taking responsibility for financial results.
  • Assisting your team with research on risks, countries' political and institutional environments to identify potential clients and their needs.
  • Preparing presentations and briefings, writing project proposals and discussion notes.
  • Fulfilling planning, reporting, documentation and compliance requirements.


About the team

You will be part of the industry's first public sector team, and we are all very committed to working with the public sector on innovative insurance solutions to address climate change or health-related global challenges. Many of our solutions are groundbreaking "InsurTech", in particular in the developing world. We work directly with public sector entities, as well as with brokers, local re/insurance companies and development institutions.


You will be embedded in our diverse team of public sector specialists and work in collaboration with regional client management and underwriting colleagues.

About you


  • Commercial orientation and eager to interact with clients.
  • Master's degree, preferably in International Affairs, Economics/Finance or Natural Sciences, or similar.
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant work experience, ideally in the insurance or the public sector.
  • You easily build business relationships across different cultures, sectors and fields.
  • Curious, innovative, entrepreneurial, and with strong analytical skills.
  • Able to transfer knowledge and replicate solutions across clients and regions.
  • Effective work culture and research skills.
  • Strong communication, presentation and writing skills, including the ability to present technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Proficient in English and fluent in one or more other languages (French, Italian, Russian, Arabic).
  • Self-starter who is able to work independently and creatively.
  • Persistency and perseverance are a must.
  • Hardworking and results focused.
  • Collaborative and a great teammate.
