Team Lead, Energy & Construction (E&C) & Energy OPS.
About the Role
As Team Lead for Energy & Construction (E&C) and Energy Operations, you will be at the heart of a fast-moving, high-impact specialty portfolio. You'll lead a talented team of Underwriting Assistants and Operations professionals, partnering closely with Underwriting leaders to deliver outstanding service, operational precision, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Underwriting Assistants and Operations professionals.
- Create a high-performing, collaborative, and customer-focused team culture.
- Conduct performance management, career development, succession planning, and workforce planning activities.
- Drive employee engagement through regular coaching, feedback, and development discussions.
- Ensure appropriate workload balancing and resource allocation across the team.
Service Delivery & Operational Excellence
- Oversee execution of all post-underwriting operational activities across the Energy & Construction portfolio.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of binders, endorsements, policy issuance, renewals, cancellations, and invoicing activities.
- Monitor service levels, quality metrics, productivity measures, and operational KPIs.
- Identify and remove operational bottlenecks while improving end-to-end workflow efficiency.
- Maintain business continuity and proactively address capacity risks.
Business Partnership
- Partner closely with Underwriters and business leaders to support portfolio growth and operational priorities.
- Develop strong relationships with brokers, underwriting teams, claims, compliance, finance, legal, and technology partners.
- Provide operational insight and recommendations to improve customer and broker experience.
- Support implementation of strategic business initiatives and portfolio growth objectives.
Risk, Controls & Audit Readiness
- Ensure operational activities comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and underwriting guidelines.
- Own audit readiness, documentation quality, evidence collection, and control execution.
- Monitor operational risks and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Escalate issues early and drive resolution plans to minimize business impact.
- Maintain strong data quality and operational governance practices.
Transformation & Continuous Improvement
- Lead process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, service quality, and controls.
- Champion technology enablement, AI adoption, automation opportunities, and workflow modernization.
- Support SOP governance, employee training, change management, and readiness activities.
- Contribute to future-state operating model initiatives and organizational transformation efforts.

The US Energy & Construction Operations team is a specialist group dedicated to delivering exceptional underwriting operations support across Energy, Construction, and related specialty insurance portfolios. The team plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely processing of complex insurance transactions while partnering closely with underwriting leadership to enable business growth. With a strong focus on service excellence, operational governance, and continuous improvement, the team is at the forefront of Swiss Re's transformation journey — embracing technology, innovation, and smarter ways of working every day.

You are an experienced operations leader who combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution. We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent business experience.
- 5+ years of commercial insurance operations, underwriting support, or underwriting experience.
- Previous team leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Energy, Construction, Specialty, or Commercial Insurance operations strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated success leading change and process improvement initiatives.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and coaching capabilities.
Our company uses a hybrid work model requiring at least three days in the office each week, with the option to work onsite full-time if preferred. This position is not eligible for full-time telework, relocation assistance or visa sponsorship.
The estimated base salary range for this position is $76,000 to $114,000. The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short- and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
