About the Role:
As a Claims Intern, you will support one of our Claims teams in managing and analyzing insurance or reinsurance claims across a line of business. This role will provide you with a broad introduction to the claims function within re/insurance, giving you insight into how Swiss Re supports clients, evaluates exposures, and ensures efficient and fair claim outcomes.
This internship is designed to be flexible across business units—whether Life & Health Reinsurance or Property & Casualty Reinsurance—allowing you to contribute meaningfully to real projects while learning about different aspects of the industry.
Key Responsibilities
Project work may include:

Claims Support: Assist in the review, processing, and documentation of claims, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data.

Research & Analysis: Conduct research on claims trends, policy wordings, and regulatory frameworks; prepare summaries and reports for senior colleagues.

Data Management: Support claims data entry, quality control, and reporting activities to ensure robust portfolio management.

Project Work: Contribute to ongoing claims initiatives, including process improvements, risk assessments, and knowledge-sharing projects.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with internal teams (Underwriting, Actuarial, Legal, Operations) to gain a holistic view of how claims impact Swiss Re’s business.

Learning & Development: Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and networking opportunities.
About You:

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail

Interest in insurance, reinsurance, and claims management

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a global team environment

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); data analysis skills a plus

Curiosity, adaptability, and eagerness to learn
The internship base salary will be $20-$30 per hour, depending on location, qualifications, projected graduation year and/or highest degree held.
