About the Role

As our Governance Expert L&H, you'll serve as a strategic advisor at the intersection of business operations and risk management, influencing how decisions are made and risks are managed across our global L&H Reinsurance value chain.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, shaping and challenging how operational, compliance, and regulatory risks are managed across the L&H Re value chain
  • Continuously enhance the risk and control framework, ensuring it remains fit for purpose in a dynamic and evolving environment
  • Identify key risk and control gaps, drive targeted improvements, and promote a strong, proactive risk culture across teams
  • Provide expert guidance on operational risk and governance topics, including events, issues, and audits, with a focus on practical and sustainable solutions
  • Lead high-impact governance initiatives, collaborating with global assurance functions to strengthen the overall control environment
  • Leverage process mapping, digital tools and data analytics to increase transparency, enable better decision-making, and anticipate emerging risks

 

About the Team

The Operational Resilience & Governance team sits within Business Operations L&H Re. We are a diverse, global team with a clear mandate to align governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, and internal controls into a cohesive and forward-looking framework. We work closely with the business to not only safeguard today's operations, but to anticipate and prepare for future challenges, making us a key enabler of sustainable performance.

 

About You

You're a strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills and a talent for translating complex risk concepts into practical business solutions. Your collaborative approach and ability to influence at all levels enable you to drive meaningful change while building strong relationships across the organization.

 

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in Insurance or Reinsurance, with a good understanding of L&H business (other Swiss Re experience is a plus)
  • Solid expertise in the three lines of defence model and its practical application
  • Proven ability to navigate complexity, connect the dots, and translate insights into action in a consultative or hands-on manner
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and influence senior audiences
  • A high level of ownership, with a track record of delivering outcomes and driving change initiatives (Project/Change management experience and/or certifications)

 

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Advanced ability to leverage AI and digital tools to enhance analysis, improve efficiency, and support better risk insights and decision-making
  • University degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience working in global, matrix organizations
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks relevant to insurance/reinsurance

 

The estimated base salary range for this position for Armonk is $86,000 to $144,000. The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
