Senior Claims Expert, APH

We have a great opportunity for a high-performing Senior Claims Expert to manage a complex portfolio of direct insurance claims involving asbestos, environmental, health hazard, abuse and other latent exposures- both domestic and foreign. 

 

About the Role

 

This role brings valuable support in formulating, developing and implementing portfolio steering using meaningful case and coverage analysis and establishment of appropriate reserves.  You will also have opportunities to participate in audits and provide insight on appropriate reserving to assist deal team in pricing.

 

Our ideal Senior Claims Expert will have an aptitude for the development and execution of strategies to effectively manage complex, multi-party claims and litigation.

 

Additional key responsibilities include:

 

  • Manage resolution of direct insurance claims for 50+ Swiss Re entities on a variety of legacy paper including primary, umbrella and excess CGL, D&O, Work Comp/Part B, Marine, ISO, Manuscript, London Forms, Bermuda Forms – domestic and foreign – and many types of claims.
  • Formulate and execute case management and litigation strategies; create and manage cost-effective litigation budgets.
  • Craft language for Coverage in Place agreements, Tolling agreements, Mediation/Arbitration briefs and other agreements. 
  • Add valuable portfolio insights to internal stakeholders, including identifying trends and potential large exposures.
  • Author timely, appropriate positional coverage letters to policyholders while protecting company's interests and reputation.
  • Compliance with company reporting, risk, and governance requirements and all legal and regulatory requirements – domestic and foreign (LPE).
  • Act as designated 30(b)6 witness for purposes of testifying (depositions, affidavits, trials).

About You

 

You have ability and passion to manage a complex portfolio with critical analysis and innovative strategic thought!  You bring your well-honed interpersonal skills enabling you to artfully partner with senior management, policyholders, lawyers and mediators.  Your strong organizational skills make it easy for you to effectively triage competing interests and you excel when collaborating with others.

 

Additional key requirements include:

 

  • 10+ years of claims experience, including significant experience in handling latent direct insurance claims
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to identify areas of improvement, and a passion for implementing them
  • Technology proficiency – Word, Excel, various claims systems, and the ability and willingness to learn new systems

 

Note:  Employees who live near a Swiss Re office location are required to be office-based employees.  This role is an office-based hybrid role with flexibility to work from home several days a week along with going into the office 3 days a week.

 

The estimated base salary range for this position is $116,000 to $213,000. The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
