Senior Financial Analyst (Hybrid Work Model)

Finance plays a critical role in empowering our business leaders, by providing them with performance insights, analytics, planning and support in steering and commercial decision making. The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function is a key part of this, and one you can be a valuable part of as our new Senior Financial Analyst!

 

About the role

 

We need a team member who can develop a deep understanding of the business to enable them to identify and communicate the drivers of financial performance and producing a financial Plan that reflects the businesses strategic ambition. This person will be pragmatic, someone able to extract information from the finance systems, work with colleagues from across Swiss Re, find solutions and communicate answers clearly.

 

Performance and analytics:

 

  • Detailed understanding of the drivers of financial results in each quarter, gained through the building positive relationships across client market and actuarial/pricing functions
  • Ensure timely and accurate analysis and submissions of financial performance to senior stakeholders (pipeline information, dashboards, quarterly performance report, etc.)
  • Working across functions to answer ad-hoc requests and present to management

 

Planning:

 

  • Work with Client Markets, Pricing and Actuarial and other stakeholders to understand future earnings power of the business and the strategy for growing the business
  • Build the Plan with collaboration across Finance and other functions

 

Business Steering:

 

  • Support the business in commercial decision making and a finance partner in strategic discussions
  • Provide insights into the financial impact of transactions and other actions

 

 

About the Team

 

The team falls within the broader mandate of FP&A Americas Life & Health (L&H) Re. This makes it the go-to function for the region for all questions regarding performance management, financial steering and reporting and provides advisory on growth initiatives, transactions, and other business priorities. The team is part of Finance L&H Re and works closely with client managers, other teams in Finance and the wider Swiss Re organization. Our diverse team consists of members based in Armonk, Kansas City, Miami and Toronto.

 

 

About You

 

The ideal candidate has outstanding analytical skills and commercial approach and is keen to develop convincing storylines. You have high degree of curiosity and flexibility and are able to prioritize and deliver results within time constraints. Your excellent interpersonal skills will enable you to interact with all levels of the organization.

 

  • A background that will include elements of Mathematics, Computer Science, financial modelling, actuarial sciences and finance.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience, good knowledge of insurance/reinsurance business and performance drivers
  • Solid understanding of multi-valuation concepts, in particular IFRS 17/9
  • Strong computing and data management skills, knowledge of multiple financial systems and programming languages are considered a plus

For Armonk, NY the estimated base salary range for this position is $84,000 to $138,000. The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
