About the Role

 

As part of the Capital Management Americas team, you will support Treasury in the region; implementing the target capital structure for all Business Units and supporting the regional CFOs and business teams on all treasury related topics. You will experience exposure to a variety of business topics, ranging from Reinsurance to Primary business, from Life & Health lines to Property & Casualty lines across the US, Canada and Latin America. Treasury work encompasses both the asset and liability side of the balance sheet in our ongoing pursuit of optimizing financial resources.  

 

Your main tasks and activities will include: 

 

  • Monitor the region's capital and liquidity generation, and work with the central Capital Management team and the business to improve these financial key performance indicators (KPIs) 
  • Support the implementation and structuring of the regional intra-group retrocession program 
  • Monitor the capital levels of the region's entities and branches; ensuring they are capitalized, and dividends are repatriated, in accordance with the Group's capital management policies 
  • Coordinate the capital planning process in the Americas region, engaging with the regional CFOs and local finance teams, to ensure timely and accurate presentation of numbers to the relevant Group committees 
  • Support the business in reviewing and structuring large transactions from a treasury perspective, as part of the broader Finance transaction review process 
  • Engage with Asset Management, the central Treasury team, and local Finance to assess the capital implications of the investment and foreign exchange positions of local entities 

 

About the Team

 

Capital Management team is within Group Treasury. We are responsible for capital and liquidity management, as well as asset-liability management and the Finance transaction review process across the Swiss Re Group. We are organized into three regional capital management teams based in Zurich for EMEA, Armonk for the Americas, and Singapore for Asia, as well as 2 central teams based in Zurich mainly responsible for asset-liability management and group capital steering. We are flexible in structuring our tasks and frequently work together on initiatives across teams. We constantly strive to improve our understanding of value creation in the context of Swiss Re and to use this knowledge to increase our effectiveness.  

 

About You

This role is designed for early-career professionals with a maximum of three years of prior relevant full-time work experience. We are looking for people who want to make a difference!

 

To be successful in this role:

  • You’re on track to complete your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field) between 2024–2026, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • You’re someone who enjoys diving into complex financial topics, learning quickly, and collaborating across teams. You bring a sharp analytical mindset, a proactive attitude, and a genuine interest in how treasury shapes business strategy  
  • Demonstrating strong quantitative and analytical skills and ability to focus on details without losing track of the bigger picture
  • Strong interest in/motivation to learn about insurance/reinsurance with curiosity and open-mindedness 
  • Team-player, willingness to contribute actively to the overall team spirit, capacity to readily adapt to a changing and dynamic environment   
  • Aptitude to express yourself effectively in one-on-one conversations and small groups. Excellent oral and written English skills; additional language skills advantageous 
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) 
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills

 

The base salary for this role is $70,000. Candidates with advanced degrees may be eligible for a higher base compensation. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only, and does not include short-and long-term incentives or other benefits offered.
