Are you an experienced HR Partner who brings strong business judgment, practical HR leadership, and the ability to help senior leaders navigate change, organizational evolution, and complex people decisions?

 

Swiss Re is seeking a collaborative, business-oriented HR leader to support U.S.-based populations while partnering with leaders and HR colleagues across global regions. This role combines strategic advisory with hands-on execution across the employee lifecycle, change, organizational effectiveness, and priority HR initiatives.

 

About the Role

Reporting to the SVP, Head of People US, you will partner with senior business and functional leaders to shape and deliver the people agenda in support of business priorities. You will advise on organizational effectiveness, talent, performance, culture, and change, helping leaders translate business needs into practical people actions.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Business advisory and change leadership
      • Partner with senior leaders to understand business priorities and translate them into practical people strategies and actions
      • Advise on organizational design, workforce planning, talent, performance, culture, and leadership effectiveness
      • Provide change management counsel and practical execution support to help leaders communicate, engage teams, manage resistance, and sustain effectiveness through change
      • Advise on transformation, restructuring, and workforce transitions as needed
  • Employee lifecycle and HR partnership
      • Support key employee lifecycle moments by partnering with Center of Excellence teams across HR to deliver integrated solutions
      • Advise on employee relations and employment risk matters, including performance, conduct, and sensitive employee situations, partnering closely with Legal and other stakeholders as needed
      • Partner with HR colleagues across regions to support leaders managing multi-jurisdictional teams
  • Projects, insights, and tools 
      • Lead or contribute to priority HR and people initiatives, bringing structure, stakeholder alignment, and disciplined execution
      • Use workforce data, employee insights, and business context to identify themes, risks, and opportunities and translate them into practical recommendations
      • Apply AI-enabled tools and emerging HR technologies responsibly to improve productivity and the quality of HR delivery

 

About the Team

The US HR Partner team is a lean, seasoned, and highly collaborative group of HR Partners supporting approximately 2,200 employees across the US business. In our model, HR Partners serve as senior business advisors across a broad range of people and organizational topics while working closely with specialist partners.

 

Swiss Re's global business structure means many teams span different countries. This role requires strong partnership across jurisdictions and confidence navigating a matrixed environment. HR Partners provide integrated support across the employee lifecycle, partnering closely with Talent Acquisition, Talent & Culture, Inclusion, Reward, Legal, and other specialist colleagues as needed.

 

Within the same reporting line, the team works closely with HR Operations and a Data Analytics colleague, enabling a connected approach to delivery, insight, and problem-solving. The team’s footprint spans the US, with major hubs in Armonk (our US headquarters), New York City, and Kansas City. You would join at an important moment for the function, with new leadership under our Chief People Officer and continued evolution across the People organization.

 

About You

You are a credible, pragmatic HR Partner who builds trust quickly with senior leaders and balances support with constructive challenge. You are comfortable operating in a global matrix, navigating complexity across teams and jurisdictions, and moving between strategic advisory and practical execution.

 

Key requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant HR experience, including significant HR Business Partner experience supporting senior leaders in a complex, matrixed organization
  • Strong senior business advisory capability, including experience advising on organizational design, workforce planning, talent, performance, culture, and leadership effectiveness
  • Broad employee lifecycle experience and the ability to partner effectively across HR Centers of Expertise and HR Operations
  • Demonstrated experience supporting change management and organizational evolution
  • Strong project leadership skills, with the ability to drive alignment and execution across HR initiatives
  • Experience working effectively in a global matrix and across multi-jurisdictional teams
  • Practical engagement with AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies, with sound judgment around responsible use
  • Experience handling employee relations and employment risk matters with sound judgment and appropriate engagement of Legal and other stakeholders on sensitive issues
  • Experience supporting transformation, restructuring, or workforce transitions is preferred
  • Experience in reinsurance, insurance, asset management, financial services, or another regulated environment is preferred; adjacent experience will also be considered

 

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.

 

The estimated base salary range for this position is $144,000 to $216,000. The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short- and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
