We are L&H Data & Analytics Re, a part of Digital & Tech Re. We use data and analytics to enable Swiss Re's L&H business to make data-driven decisions. Both our team and our partners are spanning across different countries and serving a global customer basis. We support a broad range of existing products and manage a pipeline of new and exciting analytics products. 

  

About the Role  

In your role as an Analytics Product Owner in L&H Data & Analytics team, you work as part of a team of Product Owners with support from engineers and business stakeholders to create analytics products that address various business problems, such as monitoring our portfolio performance, enhancing our assumptions setting or tracking our operational efficiency 

 

Key Responsibilities  

  

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of analytics products, from conception through deployment and BAU support 
  • Collaborate with business experts, product owners and engineers to define product requirements and prioritized roadmaps 
  • Manage timelines, resources and budgets to deliver products on schedule and within scope 
  • Communicate complex analytics concepts to non-technical stakeholders 
  • Data Exploration & Consulting: Acting as a connector between business and data, advising on how best to use data and analytics to improve business outcomes 
  • Product Shaping & Data Visualization: Gather requires, design and oversee build of impactful analytics applications using our strategic platforms to support key business processes, with a focus on rapid prototyping & quick iterations 
  • Product Management: Apply core principles of product management throughout our deliverables to ensure that we deliver excellent products that fit the business needs as part of a wider portfolio of Products. Support planning and prioritization processes (QBR) 
  • Data Modelling: Contribute to design and build of a user-centric data asset that is modelled around how our business understands the data 

 

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Design scalable and robust data architecture and engineering structures necessary to support new data analysis initiatives. 
  • Working closely with Application teams, data warehouse teams and external partners/vendors to ensure planned solution execution. 
  • Be the source data expert: profile and document objects, business rules, and caveats. Develop reporting framework and cohesive reporting deliverables. 
  • Support issue resolution, production incident and problem management and participate in production Go-Live activities 
  • Flexibility to learn new reporting or analytical platforms as per new organizational initiatives and build solution using these platforms.  

 

About you  

In short, you're a product-minded engineer or technical business analyst who loves working in cross-functional teams, delivering valuable data products quickly and constantly learning new things in the process.You will build up domain knowledge in your role and apply this when advising on solutions. Most importantly, you are a people person that loves collaborating with others to find excellent solutions to complex business problems! 

  

You should have:  

  • A university degree in technical field (engineering, computer science or quantitative) or in business with complementary technical experience.   
  • 5+ years of data-related work experience in the Financial Industry, Consulting or Tech  
  • Excelling in stakeholder management and ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts.  
  • Experience in building applications and/or data visualizations 
  • Solid ability to analyze and solve problems, and to deliver technical solutions that meet business needs. 
  • Experience in writing SQL scripts for testing and analyzing data 
  • Experience with information modelling, understanding of data modelling concepts and working with data pipelines 

  

Behavioural Competences  

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English communication is important. 
  • Excellent project management and interpersonal abilities 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to communicate on different levels of seniority.  
  • Team player; enjoying being part of a cross-functional setup.  
  • Ability to perform well on time-critical endeavours and on multiple fronts at the time.  

 

Nice To have:  

  • Working knowledge of Palantir Foundry is preferred 
  • Working knowledge of Power BI and Paginated reports is preferred 
  • Working knowledge of advanced analytics (i.e. Machine Learning, Statistics) is a plus 
  • Experience in the (Re-)Insurance industry is a plus 
  • Experience with Python & TypeScript is a plus 

An agile certification (e.g., Product Owner, Scrum Master, Agile Project Management, Kanban) and/or the equivalent hands-on experience in operationalising scaled agile frameworks is beneficial
