About the Role

As the IT Owner for Scout Next, you'll become the technical backbone of the product, responsible for all IT-related tasks and decisions. This multifaceted position combines business analysis, development, and DevOps responsibilities, requiring you to collaborate with external vendors, support users, and drive the product's strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Define detailed requirements for external vendors to improve/extend our solution, including new providers, data fields, and platform redesigns

  • Create and execute test cases for API, UI, and documentation to verify solutions meet requirements

  • Support users with API onboarding, technical questions, and bug reporting as first-level support

  • Maintain documentation including API guides, FAQs, and service documentation

  • Communicate effectively through release notes, stakeholder meetings, and product presentations

  • Design long-term strategy and budget planning alongside the business owner

  • Write automated test cases to validate new API features

  • Develop scripts and programs to fulfill user data requirements using efficient coding practices

  • Analyze user statistics using SQL, Python, and/or Java scripts

  • Evaluate technical aspects of potential use cases to identify optimal solutions

  • Challenge vendor decisions to ensure technical excellence

  • Maintain data pipelines between our organization and vendors

  • Resolve alerts in Azure DevOps

  • Update disaster recovery plans and coordinate annual testing

About the Team

You'll be joining the Scout Next team, taking ownership of this important product and working closely with stakeholders across the organization and external vendors.

About You

You're a technical all-rounder who enjoys wearing multiple hats and solving diverse challenges. You have a user-friendly mindset combined with strong analytical skills, allowing you to translate business needs into technical solutions. You're detail-oriented yet can see the big picture, and you're comfortable being the go-to technical expert for a product.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Proven experience in requirements engineering and test engineering

  • Proficiency in at least one common programming language (Python, Java, C#)

  • Strong SQL skills for data analysis and manipulation

  • Good communication skills

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with vendors and stakeholders

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Experience with API tools like Postman or Bruno

  • Understanding of REST API development and implementation

  • Knowledge of software architecture principles

  • Advanced Excel skills for data analysis using formulas

  • Test automation experience

  • Experience with ChatGPT, Copilot, or prompt engineering

  • Background in parallel or asynchronous programming

  • Experience developing APIs

  • VBA/PowerQuery skills for Excel

  • Azure DevOps experience

  • Familiarity with sFTP tools like FileZilla

  • Experience in development on Palantir Foundry
