Application Engineer

We are on the lookout for a dynamic and skilled engineer to enhance our team, focusing on improving our automation capabilities and streamlining integration processes within our platform. In this role, you will support customers throughout their onboarding journey, ensuring a seamless integration of their application landscape with Cloudflare. Your duties will include driving continuous improvements in our self-service platform, troubleshooting network or performance issues, and investigating and resolving integration challenges.

About the Role

As a Platform Automation Engineer, you will:

  • Enhance and automate our self-service platform, emphasizing operational efficiency and automation excellence.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automation pipelines, taking full ownership of build and run responsibilities within an operational framework.
  • Implement new functionalities using NodeJS within an Azure environment, supported by comprehensive automated testing.
  • Troubleshoot network or performance discrepancies between our systems and integrations.
  • Assist customers with integration challenges and enhance our documentation to improve user experience.

 

About the Team

Our Cloudflare team is dedicated to maintaining the Cloudflare platform and enhancing its self-service capabilities across the entire SwissRe landscape. We ensure our public-facing websites are secure, performant, and fully leveraged by Cloudflare's features. Comprised of highly skilled engineers, we bring extensive experience in automation, scripting, cloud technologies, DNS, networking, and Cloudflare offerings to the table.

About You

You will play a supportive role in the development and automation of our self-service platform, implementing new functionalities using NodeJS in an Azure environment. Your expertise in automating manual and repetitive tasks through BPMN workflows will be highly valued, as will your ability to write integration and unit tests for our automation processes.

The ideal candidate will have an engineering background and possess a knowledge of network and DNS as well as Azure cloud technologies including scripting skills and Docker.  

Essentials

  • University degree in IT, engineering, or equivalent experience
  • network and DNS expertise
  • knowledge of Azure cloud and cloud technologies including docker
  • engineer with knowledge of JavaScript (bonus if you know multiple languages)
  • Strong drive for automation
  • have a sense for security and how to secure modern applications (authentication protocols, oAuth2.0, identity providers)
  • skills of troubleshooting and finding root cause of problems
  • good at understanding customer needs and knows how to improve documentation to increase flow of information
  • Commitment to quality, care for detail and solution oriented, hands-on attitude and willingness to learn, collaborative, team focus and excellent communication skills
  • English language proficiency
