Application Engineer

About the role:

The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in the end-to-end creation and implementation of reporting solutions for 6+ years.. Primary skills should include SAP Analytics Applications (SAP BW or HANA DB), with secondary skill set in Cloud Analytics Applications (ideally Microsoft Azure, Databrics and PowerBI).  

In this role you will have the unique opportunity to implement Analytics solutions in the finance landscape.  

Key responsibilities: 

• Provide technical expertise in the data modeling of Analytics solutions by leveraging SAP and Microsoft Platforms.  

• Build and enhance Analytical solutions based on embedded SAP BW (CDS views), Microsoft PowerBI and Databrics.  

• Partner closely with business stakeholders to capture their requirements, craft detailed functional design, and efficiently deliver prototypes leading to end-to-end analytics solutions on time.  

About the team:

The SAP reporting team (Reinsurance), within the Finance Reporting & Analytics product area, delivers performant, scalable, and maintainable solutions that enable our stakeholders to quickly extract knowledge from large and disparate financial datasets. Our solutions support financial reconciliation, steering and auditing based primarily from subledger data on the SAP S/4 HANA and Microsoft Azure Data platforms.

About you:

• Proven knowledge in various Analytics technologies with a focus on SAP analytics (SAP BW, HANA, ABAP, CDS) and Microsoft PowerBI with Databricks working knowledge.  

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with designing and implementing reporting and advanced analytics solutions based on SAP BW or embedded BW (CDS views), HANA native DB is an advantage. 

• 2+ years of hands-on experience with PowerBI (and ideally Databrics and Microsoft Azure Analytics components). 

• Working knowledge of SQL and Python. 

• Basic functional knowledge of SAP ERP or S4 modules (preferably FPSL or Bank Analyzer). 

• Experience in the Analytics solution development process including requirements gathering, architecture design, implementation, testing and documentation. 

• Strong verbal and written skills and experience working in an agile environment. 

• Show well-structured, analytical thinking and the ability to explain process clearly and understandably to a non-technical audience. 

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or IT/computer science is required.  

• Experience with financial systems and/or financial services companies is preferred. 

• English speaking.
