Associate Credit PTF Data Scientist

About The Role: 

  

You will contribute to the analysis of the credit & surety portfolio, both from risk and profitability views through the analysis of internal and external data and contribute to make underwriting more efficient. You will collaborate with teams from different areas of Swiss Re to shape the data-driven transformation and solve hard data problems using cutting-edge technology to ensure sustainable and profitable business.

In this role, you will work with colleagues in diverse functions including underwriting, finance, operations, claims, actuarial and risk management. You will collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and actuaries to extract, process, and analyze internal and external datasets. You will also collaborate across various teams, including finance, claims, operations, and risk management, to ensure seamless integration of data insights into strategic decision-making adhering to data governance and compliance. In addition to the day-to-day tasks, you will contribute to activities linked to the elaboration and implementation of the strategy of the Credit & Surety unit. 

  

About the Team 

  

The Credit & Surety Actuarial Portfolio Management team reports directly to the Global Head of Credit & Surety (C&S) Corporate Solutions and Global Head of Actuarial Portfolio Management. C&S provides credit risk-based insurance solutions to banks and corporates in the areas of Trade, Commodity & Project Finance, Surety, Political Risk Insurance and Trade Credit Insurance. 

We are responsible of providing the framework to portfolio owners to ensure proper steering, distribute capacity among the different teams in accordance with the Target Liability Portfolio, monitoring evolution of the portfolio from profitability & risk views and to ensure adherence to aggregate limits and lead the data transformation in the C&S team. 

  

About You 

  

Convincing interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective working relations in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment 

Self-starter, organized, and able to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines. 

Able to apply quantitative skills, business knowledge, logical thinking and communicate the key message by visualization & presentation 

  

Must Have: 

  

  • 4+ years of hands-on Pyspark and Python industry experience, particularly in creating data transformation pipelines. 

  • 2+ year of SQL experience, very comfortable in writing complex queries. 

  • Solid experience in developing NLP solutions and exposure to GenAI solutioning. 

  • Decent experience in developing unsupervised learning solutions with big data. 

  • Good knowledge of software development lifecycle and exposure to cloud architecture. 

  • Strong data visualization skills, with experience in developing interactive dashboards for stakeholders 

  • Advanced knowledge of English. 

  • Independent thinking, thirst for knowledge, business curiosity an ambition to develop. 

  

Nice to have: 

  • Experience with solution development on Palantir Foundry. 

  • Experience in JavaScript is a plus, especially a background in building interactive, user-friendly, visualizations displaying large, complex data set using D3.js 

  • Solid quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, pragmatism and firm judgment 

  • Ability to work in an Agile environment including collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives. 

  • A background in portfolio management, insurance risk assessment, and credit analytics
