Associate Pricing Actuary
About The Role
As an Associate Pricing Actuary, your responsibilities will include assessing portfolio performance, identifying key drivers, and providing independent actuarial pricing opinions to enhance portfolio performance. You will help to identify drivers to portfolio performance and develop to mitigate gaps between what has been costed against actual performance.
You will work with Senior team members and stakeholders in Underwriting, Reserving, Claims and Finance to help in building a 360° view on the portfolio with an independent Actuarial Pricing opinion on the portfolio's expected performance.
You must be willing to learn and use actuarial methods and data science techniques to help develop insight on trends to set costing parameters, helping improve the predictability and accuracy of costing the model. You will have a direct impact in helping steer the profitability of your portfolio and ultimately the overall Business Unit's performance

The Actuarial Portfolio Management (APM) team is part of the Global Actuarial Portfolio Management unit, reporting to the Chief Underwriting Officer. Main Responsibilities
Profitability Studies
- Work with senior team members to help build a clear and independent view on current pricing or loss adequacy driven by data analysis.
- Translate details into impactful Executive reports along with effective visualizations and recommendations.
Costing Accuracy and Data Analytics
- Help and work with senior team members to translate profitability findings into corrective actions on costing models and parameters, involving:
- Developing and maintaining costing parameters and tools
- Model and price deal transactions.
- Willing to learn and use actuarial and data science techniques to develop insights and trends that can be used for risk selection or differentiation; and costing improvements.
Portfolio Insights and Strategy:
- Develop forward-looking portfolio insights and data-driven initiatives to shape the direction of Property & Specialty lines of business.
- Involve in various Actuarial investigations including exposure analysis, Rate monitoring, profitability analyses to drive portfolio steering.
About you
Professional experience
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in P&C commercial insurance. Knowledge of Property and Specialty insurance products would be an additional advantage.
- You have experience in - insurance pricing, portfolio profitability analysis and costing model and tool development. Know-how of commercial insurance and reinsurance treaty pricing would be an additional advantage.
- You are reasonably familiar with costing techniques and compare costing vs reserving views and techniques.
Technical skills
- You have highly developed numerical and analytical skills. You can translate your quantitative work into effective visualizations for high impact communication.
- You have applied these skills using real business data to develop insights and practical solutions.
- You have a good understanding/ willing to learn actuarial methods, models and related business processes.
- You have statistical programming skills (e.g. R, Phyton). Know-how of data science techniques would be an advantage.
- You can build assumptions, methods and conclusions with focus to evaluate accuracy and uncertainty in models.

Educational level
- Master's degree in mathematics, Statistics, Economics or equivalent quantitative/ statistical fields.
