About the Role
This role offers the opportunity to develop product expertise and analytical skills crucial to enhancing the profitability of a global underwriting portfolio.
As a key team member, you will use actuarial methods and data-driven techniques to analyze portfolios, set costing parameters, and influence business decisions with a focus on our in-house proprietary property costing model. You will have a direct impact in steering your portfolio and ultimately the overall Business Unit's performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently conduct case pricing using actuarial methodologies and effectively communicate findings with Underwriters and key stakeholders
- Evaluate portfolio profitability through sophisticated techniques including Experience Rating and Exposure Rating
- Deliver technical insights that support financial performance management across various sub-portfolios
- Perform advanced statistical analysis and data slicing on portfolios to uncover trends and opportunities
- Present valuable findings to cross-functional teams including Portfolio Managers, Finance, Actuarial, and underwriting departments
- Update and refine pricing model parameters during actuarial rate reviews, with particular focus on our proprietary Fire costing model
- Enhance existing models and develop innovative approaches for emerging risks and perils
- Manage data pipelines and transformations for analytics, model reviews, and continuous improvements
- Contribute to yearly planning exercises by providing actuarial insights that support business strategy
About the Team
We are a global team of Actuaries spread across Bangalore, Munich, Zurich, Manchester, London, New York, Windsor and Kansas City. Our team comprises qualified and student Actuaries who work on the largest portfolio for Swiss Re CorSo. As part of the Underwriting Unit reporting directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO), we play a critical role in business decision-making. About You
You're an analytical problem-solver who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys translating complex data into actionable business insights. Your communication skills allow you to effectively partner with stakeholders across multiple functions and geographies.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or equivalent quantitative field from a recognized university
- Minimum 2 years of actuarial experience, preferably in property or casualty line of business pricing
- Progress toward recognized actuarial qualifications
- Strong proficiency in analytical tools such as R, Python, or SQL
- Highly developed numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills and a solution-oriented, self-starter mindset.
- Experience working in global, cross-cultural teams
- Project management skills
