About the Role
As an Automated Solutions Rule Developer within the Underwriting Solutions Centre at Swiss Re,you will be at the heart of designing, building and continuously improving automated underwritingrules within
Magnum— Swiss Re's industry-leading automated underwriting platform deployedacross more than 60 clients worldwide. This is a role where your work directly influences thequality, scalability and innovation of underwriting automation solutions delivered to clients acrossthe globe.
This role spans the full automation lifecycle — from business rule analysis and solution design,through development, testing, deployment and production support — making it a dynamic andvaried position with real ownership and impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Rule Engineering
- Analyse business and underwriting requirements to design optimal automated underwritingrules that meet client and market needs
- Develop, configure and maintain Magnum rules using visual rule editors and supportedscripting capabilities
- Produce clear functional specifications and maintain high-quality technical documentationthroughout the rule lifecycle
- Ensure version control, traceability and governance are applied consistently across all ruledevelopment activities
Automation Development
- Apply software engineering principles to deliver scalable, maintainable and reusable rulesolutions
- Leverage automation technologies, UiPath concepts and AI-enabled productivity tools to improve engineering efficiency and delivery quality
- Identify opportunities to simplify processes through reusable components and automationbest practices
Quality Engineering
- Design and execute unit, integration, regression, scenario and user acceptance testing to validate underwriting outcomes
- Validate underwriting outcomes against business requirements and agreed acceptance criteria
- Perform defect analysis and support release readiness and production validation activities
Subject Matter Expertise & Continuous Improvement
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Magnum rule development, providing technical guidance and supporting global implementation teams
- Analyze production outcomes and underwriting data to drive rule performance improvements and enhance platform quality
- Support production incidents, perform root-cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions
- Contribute to testing standards, governance frameworks and reusable assets to support continuous improvement initiatives
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with regional implementation teams, market underwriters, architects, product owners and engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions
- Mentor colleagues and promote knowledge sharing across global teams to build capability and foster a culture of learning

About You

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI), preferably in Life & Health Insurance or Reinsurance technology
- Hands-on experience in business rule development and testing, ideally within automated underwriting systems or similar rule-based platforms
- Proficiency with UiPath or other RPA/automation platforms, with a solid understanding of automation engineering principles
- Working knowledge of Java or JavaScript, with SQL knowledge considered a strong advantage
- Solid understanding of SDLC and Agile delivery methodologies, with experience delivering in iterative, fast-paced environments
These are additional nice to haves:
- Experience with Magnum or similar automated underwriting platforms
- Practical awareness and hands-on use of AI and Generative AI tools to improve software development, testing, documentation and engineering productivity within enterprise governance frameworks
- Proficiency with JIRA and Microsoft Office tools for project tracking and collaboration
- Experience working across business analysis, rule development, testing and production support in a combined capacity
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach colleagues, sharing knowledge and building capability across distributed global teams
- A track record of challenging existing processes constructively and driving continuous improvement through innovation
- Comfort working independently and collaboratively across time zones and cultures in a global organization
