About the Role:

  • To support the Canada L&H Business Management team in Reserving including Quarterly Valuation and Yearly Requirements. Also validating the Data as needed.
  • Mentoring few juniors in the Team and setting right examples.
  • Work closely with other team members in Bangalore and the team members in Canada, and needs to be able to make decisions as appropriate, which will be confirmed with others in the team.
  • To apply technical knowledge and process skills to identify problems and develop solutions, i.e. investigating data issues, reconciliation of numbers etc.

  • In conjunction with the Canada teams:

  • To review data analyse

  • To prepare and provide result variance explanation on the basis of expected versus actual

  • To run production AXIS models and manage model change process

  • To prepare financial statements and exposures for internal and external reporting.

  • Provide / Facilitate sign-off of final work produced by the Bangalore Canadian team based on set standards

  • To systematically log, communicate and manage issues found until they have been resolved. This will involve cross-cultural coordination and cooperation across regions and departments

  • To make use of automation to simplify work processes & suggest process improvements

  • To document systems and processes on an ongoing basis.

  •  To mentor juniors in the Team and setting right examples.

  • To provide first level Sign off for few of the Analysis Segments.

  • Responsible for few of the Quarterly Deliverables to other Teams like Risk Management.

 

About the Team:

Canada Valuation is currently a 9 member Team and is expanding. This Team started 6 years back with 3 members. Over the span of 6 years the Team has worked on various projects across the length and breadth of Life and Health Reserving. Initially the team was involved in testing and analyzing the potential impact due to change in Data Administration system ,which required us to interact with technical Accounts and understand the changes to do the necessary updates and provide the sign off . In addition, apart from other system enhancements that Team has always supported and is currently doing as well, the Team is fully responsible for calculating the reserves for the Inforce Block of Canadian Life and Health business that includes end-to-end Quarterly Valuation starting from Data, Model Changes until analyzing and Reporting numbers across various regulatory basis. Supporting Annual Regulatory, requirements like Appointed Actuary Report, Capital Reporting etc. Ensuring the Reserve numbers produced are analyzed and are as accurate as possible before they are shared with our Colleagues in Canada Swiss Re office. In addition, the Team is involved in supporting Inforce Management Team who are primarily involved in identifying the blocks of business that can be recaptured or restructured to Swiss Re's benefit. Last but not the least Team is also responsible for the Annual Assumption update and supports experience studies. As far as Team composition is concerned, it is a perfect example of gender as well as culture diversity and is a group of very energetic and fun loving yet responsible people.

 

About You:

• Ability to work independently, accurately and deliver to deadlines.

• Strong data organization and analysis skills.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, especially in the context of large time zone differences and a multi-cultural working environment.

• Must be able to work with business teams in North America and ask clarifying questions in a manner that minimizes ambiguity during Bangalore working hours.

• Ability to work in a team environment embedded in a global network.

• Strong learning motive.

• Strong critical thinking skills.

• Proficiency in working with Spreadsheet and Database packages.

• Around 4 years working experience in Actuarial preferably around 2-3 years in Insurance or Reinsurance.
