Credit & Surveillance Analyst
About the role:
As a Credit & Surveillance Specialist (Associate) within our Credit Risk Management (CRM) team,you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding Swiss Re's financial strength and reputation. This isnot your average risk role — you'll blend independent credit analysis with cutting-edge datascience techniques to build scalable tools, uncover meaningful insights, and support high-stakesdecision-making at a senior level.
Based in Bangalore, you'll collaborate with colleagues across Zurich, New York, and Alpharetta,contributing to a globally synchronized team that manages credit risk across Swiss Re's entirebusiness spectrum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement quantitative tools to enhance scalability, consistency, and insightgeneration across credit risk assessments
- Apply data science techniques to improve speed, efficiency, and the quality of analyticaloutputs
- Work with complex datasets to extract meaningful patterns and support robust riskdecision-making
- Drive automation initiatives for recurring analyses and reporting processes, freeing upcapacity for higher-value work
- Perform independent quantitative and qualitative credit risk analysis on individualcounterparties across the global insurance sector
- Develop and deliver well-reasoned ratings and limit recommendations for seniormanagement decision-making
- Create concise, decision-oriented analysis on complex credit exposures and transaction-related risk assessments
- Monitor credit developments and engage proactively with internal stakeholders on emergingrisks
- Develop a solid understanding of financial risk calculations associated with key insuranceproducts and effectively communicate methodologies to business units
About the team:
Credit risk is woven into the fabric of the Swiss Re Group — spanning credit counterparty risksembedded in structured transactions across Property & Casualty and Life & Health reinsurance,Alternative Risk Transfer solutions, Asset Management investment strategies, Credit & Suretyunderwriting activities, and corporate finance operations including custodial, banking, andderivatives counterparties.
The CRM Insurance team is the specialist unit responsible for identifying, measuring, monitoring,and controlling credit default and migration risk on insurance counterparties. We ensure thatSwiss Re's credit risk profile remains transparent to management and appropriately aligned withits risk appetite. Our team members are based across Zurich, New York, Alpharetta, andBangalore, working in close collaboration across time zones to deliver consistent, high-qualityrisk oversight on a global scale.
About you:

We Are Looking for Candidates Who Meet These Requirements:
- Strong quantitative and analytical background with solid academic credentials in a relevantfield such as Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline
- Proven hands-on experience designing and implementing production-ready analytical toolsor data-driven frameworks in a business or risk environment
- Advanced programming skills in Python, R, or Power BI, with demonstrated ability to deliverscalable solutions
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in financial risk assessment, data analysis, or relatedfields
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical findings clearlyto both technical and non-technical audiences
These Are Additional Nice to Haves:
- Experience in credit risk assessment, capital markets analysis, or financial institutionscoverage
- Knowledge of credit rating methodologies and risk assessment frameworks
- Familiarity with financial statement analysis and credit modeling techniques
- Experience working within a global or matrix organization
- Professional certifications such as FRM, CFA, or similar
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office atleast three days per week.
