Data & Analytics Engineer

We are looking for the right person to join the Group Cost Management team to help us to harness digital technology and analytics to transform the efficiency and quality of what we do and to introduce new insights to help the businesses that we support. In your role you will have the chance to:
- Evolve the “analysis and reporting factory” of Group Cost Management
- Define and build analytics solutions including dashboards
- Design, build and maintain end-to-end data processes and solutions
- Review, optimize and transform data flows and build integrated data marts
- Identify areas of improvement and suggest/drive remedial actions
- Identify and help to design the right processes and data architecture
- Shape and contribute to appropriate data governance along the whole data lifecycle
- Monitor and help improve data quality
- Collaborate closely with the business process owners, IT partners and data scientists

You will work with team colleagues in Bangalore, Bratislava and Zurich as well as colleagues and stakeholders globally.
About the team:
Group Cost Management ("GCM") is part of a broader unit of about 200 people with responsibility for cost planning and management as well as delivery of cash and cost operations for Swiss Re. GCM itself has a total of about 25 people with responsibility to facilitate group-wide cost processes from budgeting to business performance impact. It closely interacts with top management and a variety of senior stakeholders across Swiss Re including Group Reporting, Tax, FP&A teams and many more. GCM Transformation & Analytics is a small team of 5 people based in Bangalore, Bratislava and Zurich, with responsibility to:
- Steer the transformation roadmap and facilitate change management, incl. portfolio steering, project coordination and capability building
- Lead initiatives to put in place analytics & reporting as well as controlling & governance solutions, and drive the data architecture to enable that
- Identify areas for optimization to improve efficiency and effectiveness of GCM processes and services
- Provide targeted analytics to support cost, consumption and transformation related decision making
- Explore & harness new technologies and support strategic initiatives
About you:
You have 5+ years of data engineering experience in a finance, operations or similar context including more than four of:
- Performing business analysis
- Strong experience defining and building conceptual, logical and physical data architectures using SQL & ETL tools
- Implementation of data analytics solutions
- Implementation of visualization dashboard reporting using MS Power BI, Tableau and SAP Analytics Cloud
- Implementation of advanced / AI based analytics or automation, e.g., using Python or R, PySpark
- Data integration and/or generation of new data repositories
- Ensuring smooth operation of analytics processes and solutions
- Expert knowledge of MS Power Platform as well as MS Excel and VBA
- Strong knowledge of Finance and Operations processes and organizations
- A university degree or a relevant professional qualification

- Interact smoothly with colleagues from technology organization and business units
- Create compelling storytelling with data and visual design, identify knowledge gaps and quick to learn
- Effectively apply agile methodology in your daily work
- Appropriately document processes and solutions
- Communicate effectively in English
Supplementary skills and experiences seen as a plus:
- Machine learning and statistical modelling techniques, esp. on timeseries
- Knowledge of Azure Data solutions (such as ADF, DWH) or related
- Experience with Palantir Foundry
- Cost Management know-how
- Architectural solution design
