About the Role

As a Data Engineer II, you'll be at the forefront of our data transformation journey, designing and implementing scalable data pipelines that power critical business insights. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions that deliver real value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop efficient, scalable data pipelines using PySpark and other modern data technologies
  • Optimize existing Spark-based pipelines for improved performance and reliability
  • Implement data quality frameworks and monitoring systems to ensure data integrity
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical implementations
  • Create and maintain documentation for data models, pipelines, and processes
  • Troubleshoot complex data issues and implement effective solutions
  • Mentor junior team members and share best practices in data engineering

About the Team

This position is part of the Property & Casualty Data Integration and Analytics project within the Reinsurance Data office team under Data & Foundation. We are part of a global strategic initiative to make better use of our Property & Casualty data and to enhance our ability to make data driven decisions across the Property & Casualty reinsurance value chain.

About You

You're a problem-solver at heart with a passion for working with data at scale. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy tackling complex challenges. Your technical expertise is complemented by strong communication skills, allowing you to bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions. You're committed to continuous learning and staying current with evolving data technologies.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • 3-6 years of working experience in data engineering and reporting
  • Proficiency in PySpark for data processing and management
  • Knowledge of Spark and optimizing spark-based pipelines
  • Ability to convert business problems into technical implementations
  • University degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology)
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English with ability to present to senior management

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Experience with Palantir Foundry & its applications (building pipeline using code-repository, creating data-health Checks & Expectations, data analysis in Contour)
  • Knowledge of current Visualization tools or TypeScript
  • Experience in data model design and implementation
  • Process and delivery mindset aspiring for methodological and operational improvements
  • Experience working in a global, cross-functional team environment

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week
