Data Scientist

About the role:

 

Your focus will be on data and analytics activities supporting Non-Life Actuarial Reserving. You will work closely with the reserving actuaries and other stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Data transformation using Python / R / SQL
  • Data visualisation and reporting using Power BI
  • Applications built with R Shiny
  • Data quality and governance topics
  • Transformation projects for future systems and processes
  • Ad-hoc data and reporting requests

 

About the team:

 

You will be part of the Non-Life Actuarial Reserving Data & Analytics team. We are a small team across multiple locations, dedicated to providing data and analytics solutions, process optimisations, and technology expertise to support reserving actuaries in setting reserves, producing presentation materials, and sharing insights with their stakeholders.

 

About you:

 

You take ownership of your work and proactively identify opportunities for improvement. You pay attention to detail, stay on top of timelines, and know how to prioritise your tasks. You have strong communication skills. You are committed to continuous learning and development.

 

Essentials

 

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience
  • University degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or another quantitative subject
  • Proficient with Python, R, and SQL
  • Proficient with MS Power BI
  • Proficient with MS Excel

 

Nice to Haves

 

  • Experience in a similar role in re/insurance, in particular knowledge of actuarial methods and financial accounting, is a strong plus
  • Experience with cloud-based analytics platforms such as Databricks or Palantir Foundry
  • Experience with Apache Spark
  • Experience with MS Azure
