Head Global (Re)Insurance A&R Bangalore
About the role:
- Continue leading the transition of offshore operations to the Accounting Hub in Bangalore and change management support as we evolve into the world of IFRS
- Lead the responsibilities for the Global (Re)Insurance A&R teams in Bangalore (IGR, PER Controlling, Subledger Processing and Subledger Controlling); challenge teams to achieve a high-performance level. Provide leadership as well as content support to the team leads and team members as necessary
- Willingness to challenge status quo processes and desire to implement process improvements, enforcing an environment with uncompromising controls
- Responsible for day-to-day implementation of and ensuring that overarching control structure minimizes risk across team, challenging and leading team members for ongoing enhancements to control structure
- Assumption of additional projected-related responsibilities as well as ad-hoc requests from internal clients
- Serve as primary contact for the Global (Re)Insurance A&R Co-heads to handle cross-functional queries, quality control, escalation process, etc.
- Fostering an environment of high collaboration and communication
- Implementation and ongoing assessment of staffing model, ensuring balance in workload distribution across team
- Continuous coaching (formal / informal) across team
About the team:
The Global (Re)Insurance Accounting & Reporting department in Group Finance is responsible for the close process and financial reporting of both Life & Health as well as Property and Casualty business. It covers all accounting bases - US GAAP, Statutory, Economic Value Management (EVM) as well as IFRS - and consists of units taking care of Intragroup retrocessions (IGR), external retrocessions, traditional business, subledger controlling and processing.
As Head Global (Re)Insurance A&R Bangalore Hub, you will have direct reports each with a sizeable team. You will report directly to the Head Group Finance Bangalore Hub with dotted line to the Co-Heads Global (Re)Insurance A&R based in Zurich. Together with your team, you are responsible of ensuring both organizational support and content ownership of the activities in Global (Re)Insurance A&R carried out from Bangalore. You will decide and act with a degree of autonomy in practice areas with the delegated authorities.
About you:
- Post graduate in Finance/ Statistics / Mathematics / Actuarial / MBA is preferred
- A minimum of 12+ years' work experience in a Finance, Actuarial or Controlling area with a main focus on Financial Reporting for valuations
- Knowledge and working experience with IFRS a plus
- Experience working with European companies and familiarity with European business practices and culture a plus
- Knowledge of Insurance or Reinsurance industry a plus
- Excellent leadership and analytical skills with the ability to deliver quality output with short deadlines and manages details without losing the sight of the big picture
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at the management level and lead meetings efficiently; experience working in a highly professional and international environment
- Ability to develop and cultivate relationships with local cross-functional business partners and global business partners
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills
- Strong relationship building skill set
- Fluent in English (any other European language a plus)
