Head Leap R Migration Team
You will join the exciting Swiss Re journey to transform its global L&H experience studies (ES) landscape by shaping, influencing, introducing and maintaining a new standardised and state-of-the-art solution that is built for the global L&H experience studies community.
About the Team:
The Leap R Migration Team is being formed as a global team to support adoption of the Leap R tool by the local experience studies teams. Leap R has been developed based on a global methodology, to enable ES actuaries to utilise R efficiently undertake experience studies, in a way that facilitates improved generation of insights for pricing and other stakeholders. The Leap R Migration team will work with the Experience Studies Centre and collaborate closely with the local ES teams to deliver migration targets.
The Experience Studies Centre is part of the OVAL and Global Experience studies team, within L&H Portfolio Steering & Monitoring (PSM) under the Chief Underwriting Office (CUO). We aim to implement a standardised and state-of-the-art Experience Studies solutions that enables effective generation of insights of the L&H business to proactively steer L&H Re in delivering sustainable profits.
About the Role:
Reporting to the L&H Experience Studies Product Manager, the candidate will be responsible for building and leading the Leap R Migration Team. Leap R is replacing SAS and R as the experience studies calculation engine for L&H (ex. North America). The Leap R Migration Team is being formed to support rollout and adoption of the Leap R ES engine by the local experience studies teams in Asia and EMEA.
You will be responsible for using your leadership skill to plan migrations of studies, currently undertaken with SAS or R, to be undertaken with Leap R going forward. Through this process, you and your team, will deliver experience analyses for stakeholders including experience studies, pricing and valuation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hire and form the Leap R Migration Team with the L&H ES Product Manager
- Guide the team technically and develop individualized program for team members including experience studies, ES theory, R programming and internal global ES tools
- Provide day-to-day management support to the team
- Plan and manage delivery of migrated studies by the Leap R Migration Team, undertaken in collaboration with the local experience studies teams, to fulfil the Leap R vision and achieve annual migration targets
- Develop and maintain the processes, framework and standard operating procedure for work to be undertaken by the Leap R Migration Team
- Ensure experience studies are migrated in line with global experience studies methodology and standards, including performing reviews of work undertaken by team members and monitoring documentation of Leap R Migration Team output
- Foster strong collaboration and involvement across regions and central teams to ensure alignment and contribution to a common global experience studies approach
About You:
Essentials
- Qualified actuary with 10+ years of experience in either L&H reinsurance, primary insurance or consulting
- Prior hands-on working experience with L&H experience studies and governance framework related work
- Working knowledge in R, Python, SAS or another programming language used in actuarial processes
- Experience with managing a medium size team effectively and successfully
- Excellent interpersonal communicator, capable in presenting information and influencing stakeholders
- Able to interact with colleagues across all levels and multiple locations of the organisation and work toward a common goal
- Able to work independently and in a team (including cross functional teams) to contribute to successful delivery of work

- Expertise in a variety of L&H products, ideally across multiple global markets / regions
