IFRS Controlling & Rep Specialist I APAC
About the role (General Accountability):
The APAC IFRS reporting Team is looking for a highly motivated person who's interested to work in a fast paced and changing environment, performing quarterly IFRS checks for group reporting, support data validation activities and take an active role in results driver analysis.
This position provides an exceptional opportunity to gain insight into some of the most intricate and captivating business developments within the APAC region. It also involves collaboration with various functions, including FP&A, IT, and the Central IFRS team, as well as working closely with the Regional CFO and other senior stakeholders.
About the Team
The team is tasked with ensuring complete and accurate reporting of APAC IFRS results. As Swiss Re transitioned to IFRS reporting in 2024, this period presents significant changes for both the organisation and this team. The team is in charge of managing the finance landscape that influences the IFRS results for the APAC region. They are responsible for the preparation, presentation, and final approval of the IFRS results on a quarterly basis.
Main tasks/activities
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform validation checks on input cashflows as well as drill down technical checks on various IFRS parameters and investigate gaps and anomalies to ascertain root cause. Discuss fixes to drive towards process stabilization.
- Analyse the IFRS quarterly disclosure reports and conduct business checks on the numbers to ensure the completeness of the results presented and support the team in building the business storytelling.
- Review the checks completed by A&R team and ensure the numbers are reasonable.
- Preparation and posting of ABA/SUM/EFR adjustments as may be required during the quarterly close process. Follow up checks to ensure accurate reflection of posted adjustments in financials.
- Actively participate in the development and improvement of end-to-end business processes and procedures, in collaboration with other functions. Identify gaps/deficiencies and implement agreed remedial action.
- Embrace and adapt with agility the ongoing changes to our processes, templates and activities as we evolve towards a fit for purpose target operating model under the new IFRS reporting regime.
- Educational/Professional : University graduate with a primary or higher degree (or equivalent), preferably in finance/accounting/economics and with minimum 1 years of relevant working in IFRS reporting preferably within a (Re)insurance environment/overall 7~10 years of experience in financial accounting reporting
- Key skills and knowledge
- Ability to analyse IFRS financial reports and in depth understanding of the IFRS17 standard o Expert in usage of SAP and AfO reports, including building and customization of new reports
- Familiarity with Stargate and Artemis usage and building reports
- Ability to analyse and interpret financial data
- Excellent command of English (spoken and written)
- Demonstrate personal accountability for area of responsibility
