Analyst – Actuarial Services Property Center

 

This position is part of Actuarial Services P&C team. As a part of Property & Casualty Underwriting and Analytics Unit, we are responsible for developing global costing tools to be used by Underwriters across various lines of businesses. We are looking for a team member who have strong quantitative and programming skills to achieve the team goals of building and managing tools in sophisticated IT framework.

Your Principal Responsibilities:

 

  • Programming, building and maintaining costing tools (C#, VB, Java, R, Python)
  • Building UI using the newest tech stack (Angular, React, TypeScript)
  • Deploying apps using continuous Integration/ Continuous Delivery pipelines (CI/ CD)
  • You are encouraged to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services Developing sophisticated database in SQL or Oracle
  • Develop Actuarial costing models based on statistical/probabilistic concepts
  • Migrate legacy costing tools to Azure cloud-based solutions
  • You will provide support to the business users in their work with the system, analyze root causes of reported issues and create change requests.

Required Skills:

 

  • Engineering Graduate with 3+ years of IT experience and strong programming skills
  • Strong knowledge of any programming language (C#, Java, R, Python)
  • You have 2+ years of experience with Oracle database development (Data modelling, Database design, SQL, PL/SQL, performance tuning).
  • You have experience working in DevOps, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery with related tool chains like GitHub, SVN, Jenkins, Bamboo
  • You have an Agile attitude and well versed with Agile software development methodologies.
  • You demonstrate strong analytical skills and hands-on experience in analytics
  • You have hands on experience with Web Services development and maintenance
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Have good interpersonal skills
  • A self-starter and able to solve problems and develop solutions

Good to Have:

  • Working knowledge on developing cloud-based applications.
  • You have been working in a DevOps environment before and you show a good knowledge of scripting languages such as Python to automate manual steps.
  • Experience of Excel and VBA
  • Experience in Insurance sector, knowledge of Statistics or Actuarial association would be an advantage
  • Flexible and open to new tasks, willing to continuously learn and improve
  • The candidate may choose to study for recognized Actuarial examinations/ AICPCU or other relevant exams.

Your Principal Responsibilities:

 

  • Development and productive maintenance of major Property and Casualty costing/pricing tools following Swiss Re standards and reinsurance business needs
  • You would write mathematical programs and build and develop Actuarial costing models based on statistical/probabilistic concepts
  • You would be building the future tool landscape considering the full end-to-end underwriting process with key areas costing and pricing in close collaboration with the existing Swiss Re landscape
  • You would develop Tools documentation and User guides
  • You would develop underwriting mindset and contributes towards overall goal of P&C Underwriting Analytics hub Bangalore
  • You will provide support to the business users in their work with the system, analyze root causes of reported issues and create change requests.

Required Skills:

 

  • University degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Engineering/Computer Science with 1-3 years of experience.  
  • Strong knowledge of any programming language (C#, Java, R, Python)
  • You demonstrate strong analytical skills and hands-on experience in analytics
  • You can handle and analyses data efficiently using SQL, PowerBI
  • Basic Project Management know-how is added advantage. 
  • You have an Agile attitude and well versed with Agile software development methodologies.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Have good interpersonal skills
  • A self-starter and able to solve problems and develop solutions

Good to Have:

  • Capable of understanding and prioritizing business requirements, evaluating different implementation options and translating them into viable IT solutions
  • Experience in Insurance sector, knowledge of Statistics or Actuarial association would be an advantage
  • Has working experience in multicultural team spread across Geographies
  • Flexible and open to new tasks, willing to continuously learn and improve
  • Exposure to Cloud/DevOps practices is added advantage
  • Is pursuing or willing to pursue Actuarial Science from any recognized professional body (IAI, IFoA or SOA/CAS) and has deep understanding of Insurance/Reinsurance concepts
