About the role:

  • Strong and relevant experience in handling an end-to-end local statutory close and reporting for legal entities across valuations for Insurance/Reinsurance companies.
  • Possess good Insurance/Reinsurance and technical knowledge and analytical skillset
  • Independently manage reporting deadlines / timetables to ensure accurate and timely delivery of tasks, using SAP
    • Co-ordinate meetings with key stakeholders like Finance Managers and Controllers and drive them independently - identify issues and resolve them involving relevant stakeholders able to do this across ledgers
  • Monitor the collation and tracking of KPIs for end to end tasks done during quarter end close.
  • Work with local office in Internal and External audit preparations and coordination where necessary. Should become SPOC for coordinating with Auditors and reposing to their queries
  • Undertake thorough and ongoing reviews of processes and documentation to identify areas for improvement and efficiency including internal controls - drive the opportunities identified to a conclusion
  • Drive the transition and oversight of the transitioned activities as and when needed.
  • Have a strong understanding of system landscape and different ledgers (USGAAP/STAT/EVM)/

Ability to support and analyse the work on other Branches apart from the one they are currently handling for common activities

  • Own the preparation, collation and computation for quarterly and annual MAS Returns

Work with local office in Internal and External audit preparations and coordination where necessary


About the team:

Finance Reinsurance teams of Asia are based in 8 different countries across Asia Pacific. The teams are primarily divided into Regional Accounting & Reporting (A&R), Carrier Accounting & Reporting, and Regional Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A).


With Swiss Re's recent strategy to establish a holding company and operating entity domiciled in Singapore as a home office for all Asia branches, the Finance Reinsurance Asia team is growing its capability to fully cover the finance deliverables across all entities in the region. This includes accurate and timely reporting across multiple valuations to the newly formed governance bodies, including the Swiss Re Asia Ltd. (SRAL) board of directors and management committees, and to the various external regulators across the jurisdictions. The vision is to grow the additional capacity in Bangalore as the Hub for Asia. We are in the process of establishing a pool of reporting specialists who will take ownership and responsibility in making the new collaboration a success. The mandate of the team will evolve in line with the build-up of knowledge within the team and the effective integration between the onshore regional teams and the local Hub.


Your role will be to produce all reporting and analysis required for regulatory reporting for SRAL parent. This needs to be undertaken in an efficient, timely and auditable manner. You will also work closely with the onshore regional finance team in Singapore, including close collaboration with the Asia Regional Finance Manager, Transactions and Accounting Policy Manager, amongst others


About you:

  • Chartered Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, CPA, or equivalent qualification
  • Expertise in international accounting standards preferred (IFRS / US GAAP), familiarity in a multi ledger organisation.
  • Insurance / Reinsurance knowledge is mandatory
  • Sound knowledge of Taxation will be an added advantage
  • 8-10 years of hands-on experience in doing monthly / quarterly / annual close of entities and working closely with Local Entity Accountants / Financial Controllers / CFO
  • Experience of working with external and internal auditors is desired. familiarity with the regulatory environment will be advantageous.
  • Work experience in auditing with global firms and project environments are strong assets
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in matrix reporting environment
  • Result oriented with strong sense of urgency
  • Self-starter and ability to work under time pressure
  • Ability to perform independently and demonstrate ownership and accountability
  • Strong communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to learn to handle different accounting systems within short time
  • Open minded team player and experience in working in virtual teams, under multiple-reporting lines and with people from different backgrounds and cultures
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and working environments 
  • Hands-on experience with SAP is a plus
