Team Lead Pricing Services Japan & Korea

About the Team:
L&H Products Services unit in Bangalore provides support to diverse units to L&H Products teams across the globe including pricing of reinsurance treaties. The L&H Pricing Services Japan-Korea team supports the team in Japan-Korea in (Re)Pricing, ToT development/review, Experience studies and other related activities. Team will consist of 3 to 4 associates.

 

About the Role:
Reporting to the Head L&H Pricing Services North Asia, the candidate will be responsible to deliver support to Japan-Korea Pricing Team with analytical capabilities.

 

Key work areas include –

  • Working closely with local, regional pricing actuaries and client managers on new product pricing/design, Terms of Trade review and Open Treaty Reviews for existing treaties
  • Pricing and Experience Studies related projects targeted for efficiency improvements
  • Providing experience analysis insights emerging for Pricing and Valuation 
  • Portfolio analysis for Japan and South Korea reinsured business

 

Major responsibilities:

 

  • Deliver end to end Experience study (ES) as per the plan and review ES results for peers. This also includes regular connect with Data Team members and proactively work together to resolve data issues for underlying experience studies.
  • Be able to lead junior associates with direct line reporting, be responsible to lead, mentor, engage and inspire in the team.
  • Understanding product designs, pricing philosophy and target population experience to analyse and peer review experience analysis results for planned treaties
  • Support reinsurance Quotation/OTR/Repricing requests and co-ordinate pricing process with relevant market teams and XFT's for the requirement
  • Maintain documentation of all pricing/ experience study work and ensure compliance with best practice guidelines and standards.
  • Support market teams/ XFTs with decision making process by providing data-based recommendation and an understanding of data reliability measures, confidence intervals, etc.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate OTRs, Terms of Trades and Large Transactions, be able to explain the ES results in terms of theory and rational behind suitable age/rate labels and application of appropriate rates

 

 

About You:

  • A qualified actuary or at associate level or Degree in actuarial science with understanding of L&H (Re)insurance domain
  • Actuarial experience of at least 5+ years in direct and/or reinsurance pricing, experience studies, governance, and tools within Asian Market.
  • Preferably having experience in guiding and coaching team members to achieve team goals
  • Good interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • Skills in VBA and any data analytical software's SAS/Python/R will be an added advantage
  • Job may involve occasional travelling
