P&C Capacity Steering Analyst

About the Role: 

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team in Bangalore for a unique professional opportunity. We are looking for someone with strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as a solid P&C underwriting/claims/reserving/portfolio management background.

 

The role, primarily focused on P&C business, entails identifying critical, potential accumulation risks and consequently setting, tracking, and managing P&C Reinsurance Underwriting capacity limits, to keep such exposures within the defined risk appetite. 

 

The position involves performing quantitative analyses on portfolio data and complementing them with expert judgment. In the role you will leverage on our sophisticated tools and systems landscape as well as your underwriting and market knowledge; you will contribute to assure the sustainable performance and the continuous enhancement of our technological infrastructure.

 

In your role, you will interact with a multitude of partners mainly in Underwriting functions, Finance, Risk Management. Furthermore, you will work on a wide variety of projects, contributing also to initiatives across SR business units and lines of business. 

 

The corporate title of the position will be either Assistant Vice President or Associate, depending on candidate's professional seniority.
 

About the P&C Capacity Steering team:

 

We are a highly collaborative, knowledgeable, and action-oriented team with members across Zurich and Bangalore, hosted in Alternative Capital Partners. The P&C Capacity Steering team specifically is a department mandated to steer our group's P&C underwriting portfolio by setting scenario risk capital intensities, owning P&C capacity framework, monitoring, and reporting on capital deployment deviation, and enabling Actual vs Expected portfolio views for all LoBs and zooming in on NatCat. 


We ensure that Swiss Re uses its capital wisely and gets the most return for it. Consequently, we steer the Group towards the optimal portfolio and enhance the Group's capabilities to control accumulating risks in real time. We actively set underwriting capacity limits and manage the accumulation risk. We steer the dialogue on relevant business and strategic topics, requiring a group–wide view.
 

 

About You:

 

Experience:

 

  • Graduate degree 
  • Min 6 years of work experience in the (re) insurance industry
  • P&C (re)insurance business and industry know-how 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in research, proficient in identifying, sourcing and handling large amount of data
  • Quantitative background, including modelling and advanced data analysis, as well as related software tools (knowledge in SQL or Python required, knowledge in Matlab is a plus)
  • Understand the source data and have an overall view of attributes used  and its business context
  • Providing data insights to senior stakeholders using Power BI or tools from Stargate platform
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience in contributing to complex projects
  • Familiarity with Swiss Re’s organization and culture is a plus
