Be at the forefront of insurance innovation.
Join Swiss Re’s Underwriting Analytics transformation journey as a Vice President / Product Manager, where you will define and lead the next generation of data-driven underwriting platforms that shape decision-making across one of the world’s leading reinsurance companies.
About the Role
As a Vice President - Product Manager, you will own the strategic vision, technical roadmap, and enterprise delivery of underwriting analytics products and platforms. You will operate at the intersection of underwriting, data science, and engineering, translating business ambition into scalable, resilient, and high-impact technology solutions.
You will lead product strategy for mission-critical analytical ecosystems that power underwriting decisions globally, ensuring alignment with Swiss Re’s data architecture (including Stargate and enterprise platforms), AI/ML initiatives, and long-term digital transformation objectives.
This is a highly cross-functional leadership role requiring deep technical fluency, strong commercial understanding, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across underwriting, actuarial, risk, and technology functions.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Vision
- Define and own the multi-year product vision and roadmap for Underwriting Analytics platforms and tools
- Drive alignment between underwriting business strategy and analytics platform capabilities
- Translate strategic objectives into prioritized product backlogs and measurable outcomes
- Establish product KPIs tied to underwriting performance, portfolio steering, and capital efficiency
Technical & Architectural Leadership
- Partner with engineering leads, data architects, and AI/ML teams to design scalable, modular, and high-performance analytics ecosystems
- Ensure architectural alignment with enterprise data platforms (e.g., Stargate) and cloud strategy
- Govern technical standards for reliability, auditability, model transparency, security, and regulatory compliance
- Drive modernization of legacy analytical tooling into robust, cloud-native, API-enabled platforms
- Ensure interoperability between data pipelines, ML models, dashboards, and underwriting workflow systems
Execution & Delivery Excellence
- Lead cross-functional squads comprising engineers, data scientists, app developers, and analysts
- Oversee end-to-end product lifecycle: discovery, design, build, deployment, monitoring, and iteration
- Implement strong governance around release management, testing, observability, and technical debt management
- Ensure high availability and performance of business-critical analytical systems
Stakeholder & Change Leadership
- Act as a strategic partner to senior underwriting and business leaders globally
- Influence executive stakeholders through data-backed product strategy and measurable value realization
- Drive adoption of analytics tools through change management and clear value articulation
- Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
Innovation & AI Enablement
- Identify and scale opportunities leveraging AI/ML, generative AI, advanced analytics, and automation
- Champion experimentation frameworks and innovation pipelines within underwriting analytics
- Foster a product culture centered on measurable impact, usability, and continuous improvement
About the Team
You will join the Global Underwriting Data & Analytics team - a high-impact group combining underwriting expertise, advanced analytics, and modern engineering capabilities.
As a senior leader within the team, you will shape not only products, but also engineering standards, platform evolution, and talent development. You will operate in a global, matrixed environment where collaboration, intellectual curiosity, and delivery excellence drive meaningful business outcomes.
About You
You are a technically sophisticated product leader with a strong engineering foundation and a deep understanding of data-intensive platforms. You think in systems, not features. You are comfortable debating architecture with engineers, challenging model assumptions with data scientists, and discussing commercial trade-offs with underwriting leadership.
You combine strategic thinking with operational rigor and thrive in environments where complexity and scale intersect.
