Reporting Actuary Israel

About the Role:

 

Position objectives: The role will be part of the Continental Europe Actuarial Team for the reporting of Israel market. The role will be responsible for the delivery of financial reporting results for Israel (mainly but not limited to IFRS17 and Swiss Statutory bases). The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Finance, Portfolio Management, Risk, as well as the wider Actuarial team across the reinsurance business. 

 

Main tasks / responsibilities:

 

  • Deliver quarterly financial reporting results with good quality, mainly under IFRS17 and Swiss Statutory bases. 
  • Co-ordinating closing timelines with stakeholders to ensure results are delivered in a timely manner and to ensure all actuarial inputs are provided as per deadlines. 
  • Analyse quarterly financial results, provide insights and communicate the story with stakeholders effectively.
  • Proactively identify the soft areas and communicate issues on time. Improve the efficiency and quality of reporting process. 
  • Collaborating with other functions- including accounting, markets, production teams etc. Contribute to the smart circle- feedback the current trends and changes that may affect other teams and reflect the changes relevant to financial reporting appropriately. 
  • Perform experience study and other ad-hoc activities required by business (e.g. recapture, projects etc.)
  • Contribute to the preparation of Board and Committee reports. 
  • Support the embedding of the risk culture within the Valuation and Analysis team.

 

About the Team:

 

The CE & Israel Actuarial Valuation team is part of L&H Actuarial and Risk Management, and is made up of around 35 people, located in Zurich, London and Bangalore.
The team´s remit covers all L&H business written in Continental European & Israel markets and therefore involves working with a wide range of internal stakeholders in various functions. 
Key objectives of the team are the delivery of robust and transparent quarterly financial results, supporting active management of the in-force portfolio to help maintain the L&H ROE, and delivering improvements in operational efficiency – including alignment to one global way of working, and system landscape.
 

About You:

 

  • Be a nearly qualified or qualified actuary with 5+ years' experience in the life insurance/reinsurance industry. 
  • Possess the expertise on both technical and business side to analyse and interpret quarterly life & health financial results. 
  • Ability to present the business story and data in a practical format and articulate to all levels of internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Expertise on various complex topics such as recaptures, Funds withheld, Counterparty Credit Risk would be considered as an advantage. 
  • Computer literacy particularly in MS Excel. Knowledge of MS PowerBi, Stargate, ArtèMIS would be considered as an advantage. 
  • Ability to deliver to tight deadlines.
  • An open mind-set which can grow with the changing needs of the Continental Europe business. 
  • Adaptability and willingness to engage on unfamiliar topics and learn new subject matter to support the development of solutions. 
  • Ability to co-operate with other teams for both BAU and change management. 
  • Proficient in English, both oral and written.
