About the role:

  • Be able to complete all assigned quarterly & yearly BAU's to support the regulatory filing.
  • Involve in and perform analysis of quarterly financial results for the Canadian Life & Health branch on IFRS 17
  • Assumption of additional projected-related responsibilities as well as ad-hoc requests from different teams within SwissRe
  • Seeking continuous coaching (formal / informal) from both Bangalore and US team members
  • Ensure compliance with risk and control frameworks and audit requirements - Participate and support Finance related projects.
  • Focus on developing understanding of Canadian Life & health business and the Canadian regulatory requirements.
  • Supporting other Canada branches when the need arises
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key internal clients
  • Performing critical self-review of daily/monthly work product

 

About the team:

The Life & Health team is responsible for IFRS 17 reporting to the Vice President, Canada L&H and enables the publication of branch financial results with Canadian regulator on regular basis. The team also supports the accounting & reporting actuarial, technical accounting & tax teams as required. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for carrier accounting and reporting in support of the Canadian P&C reinsurance entity – Swiss Reinsurance Company Ltd, Canadian L&H Branch and would also be supporting the Canada P&C and CorSo Branches when required.

 

We are looking for an Finance Controller who will be responsible for reporting in IFRS 17.  You will be based out in Bangalore and will assume responsibility, together with the local Accountants in Canada, for the end-to-end financial reporting for the Canadian L&H entity.  Your duties will be performed in compliance with local / Group requirements and the internal control framework. 

 

About you:

  • MBA in Finance
  • 0-2 years relevant work experience in an accounting, auditing or financial analysis
  • Knowledge of Financial Services or Insurance accounting experience is preferable
  • Basic understanding of IFRS 17, IFRS 9, exposure to USGAAP/Statutory insurance/reinsurance reporting preferred.
  • Flexibility to work in CET working hours and stretch during QTR close as required
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Power Point. Exposure to tools like Power BI, Power query etc. will be preferred.
