Research Analyst

About the role:

You will join an inter-disciplinary global team of insurance researchers responsible for shaping the narrative that underpins the next phase of growth for Swiss Re. Our risk insights are communicated both internally and externally, through our thought leadership reports, client webinars, and media interviews. Our risk research is data-driven, and leverages qualitative and quantitative techniques to develop internal and external points of view to be shared with clients and underwriters. In all cases you will be expected to contribute ideas, relevant research, and writing / synthesizing of key findings across lines of business and markets, as well present findings before global audiences.

 

Principal responsibilities for this position will include:

  • Driving our end-to-end research process, including thematic concept development, expert interviews, and co-authoring of published reports & presentations on topics such as sustainability and ESG in underwriting.
  • Communicating findings to internal clients (senior leadership) and external clients (via our Client Management and Solutions workforce) and building and maintaining relationships with external thought leaders at industry events.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting large data sets and providing research support in collaboration with SRI global teams as well as different external stakeholders.

 

Position requirements :

  • Quantitative background, i.e., Master's degree in Statistics, Economics.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English – able to present live to senior audiences and write multi page research reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize fragmented information from multiple sources into a coherent summary.
  • At least two years of working experience in areas related to emerging risks, sustainability, or renewable energy, preferably in financial services/research/consulting/insurance.
  • Knowledge of insurance products, distribution, risk assessment, and technology relevant for the insurance industry.
  • Some familiarity with analysis of financial institutions, balance sheet and solvency analysis will be preferred.
  • Knowledge of analytical tools preferred (e.g., R, Python) - to draw insights from large data sets.
