About the Position

This position is part of Actuarial Services and Data Insights P&C team in Bangalore. The focus area would be building of Actuarial Models to price facultative Reinsurance business, calibration of parameters, maintenance of Actuarial pricing tools and providing training and support to the Underwriters. In this role you will give actuarial advice to fac underwriters worldwide on more sophisticated and large risks or portfolios.

This position will be based out of Bangalore, India.

Principal Responsibilities:

  1. Be an active member in squads working on Actuarial Models, Calibrating parameters like Rates, Exposure Curves, Benchmarks, ILFs and development & trend factors.
  2. Participate in various Global Rate Review projects using sophisticated analytics tools like Palantir, R, Python, etc.
  3. Build & maintain dashboards and reports for actuarial and data insights using various data visualization techniques in Palantir or MS Power BI.
  4. Working in collaboration with Underwriters across the Globe and provide for actuarial advice / consultancy for complex deals.
  5. Preparation of technical actuarial documentation and User guides, Upload model parameters and testing the correctness/impact estimation.

About You:

  • University Graduate / Postgraduate degree in Mathematics / Statistics / Actuarial Science / Engineering / Computer Science / Science.
  • Relevant Working Experience of 4-7 years in Insurance / Reinsurance Industry - preferably with experience in pricing role.
  • Is pursuing or willing to pursue Actuarial Science from any recognized professional body (IAI, IFoA or SOA/CAS) and has deep understanding of Insurance/Reinsurance concepts.
  • Skilled in statistical and data analytics software and packages like R, Python, Power BI, etc.
  • Proficient in Actuarial methods widely used in General Insurance Pricing.
  • Inquisitive and willing to learn new technology and methods.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience of working in agile environment in multicultural distributed team.
  • A self-starter and able to tackle problems and develop solutions.
  • Basic Project Management know-how is added advantage.

 

About the Team:

The Actuarial Services and Data Insights P&C (ASPC) Bangalore Team is part of the Property & Casualty Underwriting Excellence Unit. The team works in very close collaboration with ASPC Team spread across Zurich, London, and the US/Canada.

The focus areas for the team are:

  • We are the go-to team for actuarial advice and perform the risk assessment for complicated single risk deals worldwide or selective lines of business such as professional likes or sharing economy and facility deals.
  • We make sure the underwriters have good models to price their business. We lead rate reviews for property and casualty business on industry level and check rate reviews performed by other units.
  • We lead from content perspective the development of the methods and tools used to price the single risk property and casualty business.
