About the Role


As a Senior Analyst in our UW Services team, you'll leverage your extensive underwriting experience making complex risk assessments while offering mentorship to junior team members and contributing to strategic business initiatives. You'll be the trusted expert who balances prudent risk selection with business growth objectives.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead complex case assessments for individual and group life & health reinsurance, making independent risk assessments outside standard guidelines where appropriate

  • Mentor and guide junior underwriters, providing technical training and professional development support

  • Drive quality assurance initiatives to maintain exceptional standards in risk selection and case assessment

  • Analyze and interpret underwriting data to identify trends and provide strategic insights to business partners

  • Develop and enhance underwriting guidelines and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness

  • Build and nurture strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, serving as a key point of contact for complex cases

  • Contribute expertise to cross-functional projects and UW tool enhancement initiatives

  • Prepare and present detailed statistical reports with strategic recommendations for clients/and regional teams

  • Conduct training sessions for clients and junior underwriters on underwriting principles and processes

  • Participate actively in the 'One-team' approach to achieving regional business goals and performance targets

Life & Health Underwriting Services team supports regions across Asia (India, SEA, Hong Kong/Taiwan and ANZ). We deliver 100% case assessments for India, SEA and Hong Kong/Taiwan that includes High Net Worth business. The team is building expertise in disability income product for ANZ region. The team is a decade old and we are committed to develop proficient underwriters, craft roadmap for competency enhancement and give growth opportunity for potential candidates like you through local rotation and international assignments. Along with core job, experienced underwriters participate in-house Life Guide projects, product development, client trainings and audits. We live 'One Team' culture enabling positive work relationship with on-shore business partners and share the same success story.


About You


You should be a strategic thinker with exceptional analytical skills and deep underwriting expertise. Your technical knowledge must be complemented by strong communication abilities and a collaborative mindset. You should thrive in a fast-paced environment where you can apply your expertise while continuously learning and developing professionally.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Science graduate (Biology, Microbiology), Paramedical professional, Dentist, or medical background (BAMS, BHMS, etc.)

  • 8+ years' experience in Medical Underwriting in Life/Health Insurance Companies/TPA with demonstrated progression in responsibilities

  • Comprehensive understanding of the insurance value chain and thorough knowledge of legal, regulatory, tax, and consumer protection frameworks in the market

  • Maintain the defined quality and turnaround time for case assessment

  • Advanced expertise in Life Underwriting and all products within the local and regional markets

  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop junior team members

  • Superior risk assessment capabilities with experience handling complex and non standard cases

  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken)


These are additional nice to have:


  • Experience in reinsurance underwriting or working with reinsurers

  • Knowledge of digital underwriting tools and automated solutions

  • Experience in developing underwriting guidelines or manuals

  • Experience conducting any Sales/client training or presentations

  • Knowledge of data analytics and its application in underwriting
