Senior Application Architect

About the Role:

As a Senior Developer Workplace Engineer within the Developer Workplace squad, you will be a key enabler in our vision to empower every developer at Swiss Re with a seamless, secure, and high-performance workplace. Your role is central to creating a frictionless environment that fosters innovation, accelerates software delivery, and ensures compliance without sacrificing speed. By integrating automation, self-service solutions, and secure-by-design practices, you will help transform Swiss Re into a leading technology-driven reinsurer.

Further you will partner with endpoint engineers, developer advocates, and IT Security to standardize developer workstations, automate onboarding and environment setup, and deliver self-service tools that allow engineers to provision their own dev/test environments and access the right packages and privileges from day one.

Developer Background
  • Strong software development background with extensive experience in programming languages such as Java and .NET, along with scripting experience in Shell and PowerShell. Demonstrated ability to design and architect solutions with a strong focus on security.
Developer Tooling Ecosystem Knowledge
  • Deep understanding of the developer tooling ecosystem, including build tools, package managers, IDEs, and artifact repositories. Hands-on experience with tools such as npm, pip, Maven, NuGet, Git, SDK installations, certificates, proxies, and container-based workflows.
Containerization Technology
  • Strong experience with container technologies, including building images, running containers, and applying containerization best practices.
DevSecOps
  • Proven experience working in a DevSecOps environment, integrating security practices into development and delivery pipelines.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with stakeholders, influence decisions, and negotiate outcomes.
Nice to have:
Endpoint Management Tooling: Working knowledge or conceptual understanding of application packaging with Intune, chocolatey and app controls.
