Senior Business Analyst

About the team:

 

The L&H TA Business Analytics within Life & Health Business Management Bangalore. This position will report into the Manager TA Business Analytics. The team is expected to consistently demonstrate agile and client centric behavior, ensure key financial controls are met, quality assurance to mitigate/control risks and monitor the performance of key portfolios, considering the increasing complexity and demands of the growing Asia markets.

 

About the role:

 

Owing to the increasing potential of Asia business growth and in our continuous endeavor to focus on client service delivery and ease operations. The L&H TA Business Analytics Team will support this strategy by focusing on the following key areas:

  • Keen eye to details to analyse the data and support in decision making in consultation with various stake holders to enable value add services to client
  • Able to interpret large data and derive logical conclusions which facilitate inputs for business requirements
  • Identify opportunities for simplification and be enablers to drive Operational excellence

 

Key Responsibilities:

Data Quality & Risk Management:

  • Define the risks or the gaps and suggest monitoring tools, controls and ensure effective
  • Governance across L&H TA ops, Data management, Business Analytics and Stargate projects
  • Identify data quality inefficiencies and drive the improvement in close collaboration with enabling teams with a goal to eliminate/mitigate risks and ensure optimized usage of available resources
  • Audit support and regulatory reporting: Evidencing and validating external/internal audit requirements, by coordinating with TA ops teams, Regional Business managers and branch level auditors

Advance Validation and Reporting:

 

  • ANZ TA IptiQ handling and reporting as follows:
    1. RITC (Reduced Input Tax Credit)
    2. Stamp Duty – Monthly Reconciliation
    3. Quarterly Financial Uploads
    4. KPI Reporting
  • ANZ IptiQ premium and claim process along with financial handling
  • Premium Rate Validation for ANZ Re clients
  • Regulatory Reporting-Quarterly reporting to Finance, as per the regional regulatory requirement for APAC including ANZ region in relation to VAT/GST/other taxes/APRA reporting
  • Understand terms of contractual agreement as signed between Swiss Re and the client, perform data validation with due diligence. This includes validations pertaining to Premiums; Claims & Underwriting clauses
  • Prepare product level synopsis as per client data, to derive valuable insights for the Portfolio Management; Actuarial & Products teams
  • Validate new deals/complex treaties and provide inputs to TA ops teams, Business Management Actuarial team for modelling across Asia region
  • Premium rate and complex validation: Validating and analysing with the help of coding/formulas in tools like SAS, Advance excel/macros etc. to assess risk and bring value by identifying variances along with providing quality assurance to upstream and down-stream functions.
  • Support automation process: As a part of automation of validations provide logics and validations checks performed. Also involve in coding and mapping in data mapping tools and python-based platforms

Financial Monitoring:

  • Financial Monitoring for L&H business is to support Actuarial and Finance team
  • Comparison of Actuals Vs Estimates, Actuals to Actuals, Identifying differences in
  • Cashflows, Variance analysis in coordination with various departments
  • Quarterly monitoring and reporting out the key finding of various financials to support closing activities
  • Analyzing Revenue and statistical figures during periodic closing
  • Performing pre- and post-closing activities, generate and publish various control reports
  • New business volume comparison with actual client reported figures and providing inputs for accurate projections
  • Data Analysis-Carry out simplified lapse study to provide early warning signals on the trending of key financials highlighting any business-related impacts

About You:

  • 4-6 years overall Insurance/Reinsurance domain experience with Financial planning and Analysis
  • Strong technical knowledge Life and Health Insurance/Reinsurance concepts with good E2E
  • Value Chain understanding
  • Strong Analytical skills (flair for figures)- Must have expertise in Advanced Excel, SAS/SQL,
  • Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence skill set (Python knowledge would be an added advantage)
  • Effective interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills enabling to drive resulted oriented outcomes in line with Risk management practices
  • Ability to challenge the status quo & manage multiple stakeholders (multi-cultural and cross functional teams in a virtual set-up)
  • Understanding business rationale which enables business decisions creating a positive impact for clients
  • Being An agile team player with the ability to manage own workload and demonstrates a sense of Accountable, Responsible and Commitment
  • Bachelor/master's in finance or accounting, Insurance/Finance (IFRS 17 know-how) related certifications preferred
  • Ability to coach/mentor team members and effectively lead & manage any initiatives assigned.
  • Prior project management/multiple stakeholder engagement as well as any training experience is an added advantage
