About the role
As the UW Transformation team takes shape, we are embarking on a new and exciting chapter within P&C Re. We invite you to join us on this journey and become a valuable member of the portfolio UW and Specialty team. In this team, we play a pivotal role in providing the necessary methods, processes, and data to effectively guide the P&C Re business. Additionally, we are the dedicated Specialty team in Bangalore and support Specialty in underwriting, tool development and actuarial tasks. As part of the team, you will work closely with the P&C Re leadership, the underwriting community, as well as our dedicated teams in D&T, and Finance. Together, we engage in various transformation projects, including portfolio underwriting and Simplex, that will shape the future of our organization.
In this role you would
- Conduct end-to-end Property treaty costing in collaboration with Underwriting (UW) Advisors during renewal cycles and throughout the off-cycle season.
- Play a pivotal role in creating and refining off-cycle costing processes for Property, including the development of costing guidelines and best practices in coordination with the Underwriting team.
- Work closely with Underwriters worldwide to provide comprehensive costing support for various treaty deals.
- Deliver detailed analytics and insights on deals to support Underwriters.
- Update models, analyze industry trends, and conduct actual vs. expected performance studies.
- Leverage various dashboards to conduct portfolio and deal evaluations, perform actuarial analyses, generate reports, and execute business intelligence tasks.
- Assist in the development and testing of adaptable portfolio costing methods applicable across multiple portfolios and all Lines of Business (LoBs) in Property & Casualty Reinsurance Treaties.
- Contribute to building a portfolio underwriting framework to monitor and manage segments that use portfolio costing strategies.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of specialty costing/pricing tools, responding to business needs in close collaboration with actuarial and Tools & Systems teams.
About you
Minimum of 6-8 years in the insurance or reinsurance industry, with a strong preference for candidates with underwriting and reinsurance treaty pricing experience.
M.Sc. or Ph.D. in a scientific discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Engineering) providing a solid foundation in numerical, mathematical, and statistical analysis.
In-depth understanding of various reinsurance structures and costing methodologies, along with strong familiarity with Property Line of Business (LoB).
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage, encourage, and accommodate diverse perspectives effectively.
Proven product ownership or project management experience.
Ideally, experience in a programming language such as Java, R, C++, C#, or similar.
Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with strong conceptual and analytical skills.
: Keen interest in working within an international, multicultural, and complex environment.
Willingness and capability to pursue an actuarial qualification (preferred).
