Senior Reporting Professional I

About the role:

 

 

 As a member of the Global Carrier Management team, we are responsible for carrier reporting for Non-Regulated Carriers including Holding Companies, Investment Companies, US Specialty and Service Companies. 

 

We are looking for an experienced Senior Reporting Professional who will be responsible for all bases of Reporting – US GAAP, IFRS, Local Statutory. You will assume responsibility for Statutory Reporting according to the relevant accounting principles.  You will ensure compliance with local and Group requirements and the internal control framework.

 

  • Position will report to Team Lead US Non-Tech Carrier Reporting
  • Responsible for quarterly and annual reporting requirements and ensuring that overarching control structure minimizes risk, challenging for ongoing enhancements to control structure
  • Position will serve as a key contact for the Financial Accounting Non-Technical Management team and will work directly with internal stakeholders and external auditors  
  • Position needs to drive operational improvement, identification, and implementation
  • Ability to develop and cultivate relationships with local cross-functional business partners and global business partners
  • Ability to make decisions within the parameters of the role. Can explain the business rationale behind decisions and can demonstrate a methodical/rational process for decisions
  • Should be able to see how own objectives fit in with the overall team/business objectives

 

Main tasks/activities

 

  • Responsible for all bases of Accounting & Reporting and related deliverables – US GAAP, IFRS, Local Statutory for legal entities under responsibility
  • Basic research of items related to US GAAP, IFRS, Local Statutory
  • Responsible for capital planning and projection submissions for carriers under responsibility
  • Preparation of financial statements and presentation of related analytics to management
  • Coordination with external auditors with regard to financial statements, disclosure requirements, and audit testwork
  • Willingness to challenge status quo processes and desire to implement process improvements, enforcing an environment with uncompromising controls
  • Strong technical knowledge in accounting and financial reporting with ability to research accounting issues/transactions and conclude on treatment.
  • Assumption of additional project-related responsibilities as well as ad-hoc requests from internal clients
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities will include the following:
    • Ensuring successful/timely completion of quarterly and annual close duties by both self, and the team
    • Fostering an environment of high collaboration and communication
    • Focus on teamwork – taking on additional duties during peak times
    • Building and maintaining relationships with key internal clients
    • Prioritize daily work to ensure all deadlines are met
    • Perform critical self-review to ensure high quality work product

 

 

Position requirements

 

  • Qualified Accountant with 6+ years of experience in the field of legal entity accounting and reporting
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at the management level and lead meetings efficiently; experience working in a highly professional and international environment
  • Expert knowledge regarding US GAAP, IFRS and operations experience
  • Advanced level on Microsoft Office (Excel – Pivot Tables, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Exposure to new advanced tool like Power BI, Power Query will be an advantage
  • Self-starter, self-motivated
  • Ability to work independently with minimal managerial supervision
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines and work on own initiative
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Ability to direct interaction with internal stakeholders and external auditors
  • Strong desire to learn and develop, receptive to coaching
  • Strong relationship building skill set
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills are a plus
  • Result oriented with a strong sense of urgency
  • Experience in documenting and transferring relevant knowledge to others
  • Experience of working in virtual team and managing multiple-reporting lines and with people from varied backgrounds and culture
  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken)
  • Hands on experience in major ERP's like SAP, Oracle would be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of Insurance, Reinsurance or Financial Services industry is a plus
