About the Team:

 

Part of Swiss Re's Group Digital & Technology organisation, Service Insights ​​​provides a continuous overview about the health for all Swiss Re's 1,600+ applications and supporting systems. A solid team with international members located across 9 countries, Service Insights' scope covers the core capabilities of Application Portfolio Management, Service Asset and Configuration Management, Logging, Monitoring, System Data Analytics as well as Orchestration and Systems Integration.

 

The Logging & Monitoring squad develops and operates state-of-the-art logging, monitoring and event management platforms to collect application behaviour information, detect / limit service disruption and provide the associated reporting capabilities. Our ambition is to help the application and platform owners identify any growing risks, have a clear understanding of their SLAs, reduce the mean time to resolution and be ahead of the curve with regards to long term trends.

 

About the Role:

 

As a Software Developer you will be part of a squad of very dynamic, highly motivated and diverse engineers with 9 different nationalities, developing and operating state-of-the-art logging, monitoring & event management platforms. With your open mind, you will be providing consultancy around logging and monitoring to application, product and service owners as well as developers across Swiss Re, for them to better understand their workloads running in multi-cloud platforms and improve our cloud infrastructure and application oversight and stability, as well as our service resilience.

 

About you:

 

We are happy to meet you if you possess:

 

  • 3+ years' software development, continuous integration/deployment and system engineering experience in cloud-native ecosystems.
  • Experience in a modern language e.g. Golang, Java and in scripting languages (Shell, PowerShell, Python).
  • Hands on expertise in open-source application and infrastructure monitoring tools, e.g. Influx stack (TICK), elastic stack (ELK), Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Passion for sharing knowledge, through interactive sessions as well as documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to focus on details without losing track of the bigger picture.
  • Excellent oral and written English skills, additional language skills are a plus.
