About the Role

Join Swiss Re's Property Treaty Underwriting Advisory group in Bangalore as a Specialist Property Treaty UW Advisor. This is a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in the fast-paced, intellectually stimulating world of natural catastrophe reinsurance — working with Swiss Re's proprietary risk modelling platforms and collaborating with underwriting desks across the globe. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping how risk is understood, priced, and managed for some of the world's most complex property portfolios.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality NatCat costing by analyzing property exposure data and providing underwriting advisory support to global underwriting desks
  • Model property portfolios using Swiss Re's internal and external risk assessment tools, including Risk Link, MultiSnap, and GRP
  • Advise and guide underwriters in interpreting model results, understanding model differences, and navigating model limitations
  • Collaborate on benchmarking and pricing of reinsurance contracts, working closely with underwriters to develop robust costing solutions
  • Champion best practices in modelling and costing by continuously developing and applying the latest methodologies
  • Partner with the global underwriting community and business partners on projects that generate valuable services and insights for Swiss Re
  • Drive model improvement by leveraging findings from underwriting analyses to enhance NatCat models and tools
  • Build sophisticated analytics and client services by extracting meaningful insights from large and complex datasets

About the Team

The Property Treaty UW Advisory, Americas team is a specialist group dedicated to delivering high-quality underwriting analytics — with a primary focus on NatCat costing and occasional Fire costing — to various underwriting desks across Swiss Re's Americas region. The team plays a critical role in enabling underwriters to make well-informed, data-driven decisions on complex reinsurance portfolios. Working at the heart of Swiss Re's global risk assessment capabilities, the team combines deep technical expertise with a collaborative, client-focused approach to drive meaningful outcomes for the business.

About You

You are a curious, analytically driven professional who thrives in a complex, global environment. You bring a strong scientific foundation, a passion for problem-solving, and the ability to communicate sophisticated technical insights to diverse audiences. You take ownership of your work, embrace collaboration, and are motivated by the opportunity to continuously learn and innovate. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, managing multiple priorities, and delivering high-quality results — even under pressure.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • University degree in a natural science or quantitative field such as Statistics, Engineering, or Earth Sciences
  • 8+ years of experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry, with strong knowledge of NatCat modelling and hands-on experience with CAT modelling tools such as RMS, AIR, or EQCAT
  • Strong programming skills including proficiency in SQL, VBA, R, or Power BI for data analysis and model development
  • Deep understanding of insurance and reinsurance concepts, including treaty structures, exposure management, and pricing frameworks
  • Proven track record of delivering complex analytical results to internal or external clients in a clear, actionable manner

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Experience with Swiss Re's proprietary tools such as Risk Link, MultiSnap, or GRP
  • An active interest in building and improving costing and pricing techniques for (re)insurance products
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or manage multiple projects simultaneously, including cross-functional collaboration
  • Familiarity with InsurTech trends, competitor analysis, and evolving insurance market dynamics
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills — both written and verbal — with the ability to engage confidently in a global, multicultural setting
  • A scientific and technological curiosity with a track record of bringing new ideas and constructively challenging the status quo

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
