Statutory Reporting Actuary

About the Role:

 

In the SRE and Projects team we work on a variety of initiatives; delivering Swiss Re-wide improvements to our valuation processes, EMEA-focused projects that improve the accuracy and quality of the balance sheet and help valuation actuaries do their jobs more easily and effectively and looking after the valuation of SRE legal entities working closely with the appointed actuaries of the entities.

 

In general, this role involves looking after a consolidation and regulatory work around the SRE  legal entities.

 

  • Looking after the consolidation of Statutory reserves for multiple regions for Life and Health business
  • Working closely with actuarial colleagues and other teams to find opportunities for improvements with PAD or valuation methodologies and align processes across the business 
  • Making actuarial and business recommendations based on professional judgment and experience
  • Perform calculations to derive the valuation interest rate, statutory margins
  • Deliver on annual regulatory and appointed actuary reports
  • Assist in ad-hoc tasks in the team including IGR restructuring, process improvements and similar project
  • Working with other business functions - including Finance, Products, and reporting teams
  • Providing support to more junior members of the team

 

About the Team:

 

The SRE and Projects team is part of L&H Actuarial Management EMEA, and is made up of people based out of London and Bangalore. Within the team, we are a dedicated group of Project Actuaries who are passionate about providing actuarial projects that add value for our colleagues across the EMEA business.

 

About You:

 

  • Near Qualified / Newly qualified Actuary
  • Highly motivated professional with good progress towards actuarial fellowship exams
  • 6+ years of experience in reinsurance, life or health insurance products ideal
  • Familiarity with the range of Life & Health insurance products and reinsurance structures written in the UK or other European markets
  • Strong Excel skills, expertise in actuarial or statistical software (e.g. RAFM, R) preferred.
  • Good project management skills and can-do attitude; considering your own and other's needs in a fast-paced environment.
  • An independent thinker who can take ambiguous problems and propose effective solutions. Pragmatism in agreeing realistic expectations with project customers.
  • Teamwork; willing to support the team to meet changing priorities and requirements. Able to build effective working relationships with colleagues in other teams and across technical fields.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, capable of discussing complex technical matters with internal interested parties. Able to form your own view on topics but also consider a range of perspectives.
  • Curiosity and problem-solving approach, with a track record of improving processes
