TA L&H Business Analyst

About the team:

 

The L&H TA Business Analytics is a vertical with in Life & Health Business Management Bangalore. This position will report into the Manager TA Business Analytics.

Owing to the growing potential of Asia business growth and in our continuous endeavor to focus on client service delivery and ease operations.

The TA Services Team will support this strategy by focusing on the following key areas:

  • Keen eye to details to analyses the data and support in decision making in consultation with various stake holders to enable value services to client
  • Able to interpret large data and derive logical conclusions which facilitate inputs for business requirements
  • Find opportunities for simplification and be enablers to drive Operational excellence

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Data Quality & Risk Management
  • Define the risks or the gaps and suggest monitoring tools, controls and ensure effective Governance across L&H TA ops, Data management, Business Analytics and Stargate projects
  • Identify data quality inefficiencies and drive the improvement in close collaboration with Enabling teams with a goal to eliminate/mitigate risks and ensure optimized usage of available resources
  • Audit support
  • Evidencing and validating external/internal audit requirements, by coordinating with TA ops teams, Regional Business managers and branch level auditors
  • Act a first point of contact for Group Internal Audit & any other internal audits
  • Financial Monitoring
  • The principle focus of the position is in support of the Financial Reporting for L&H Businesses. The individual will also assist with supporting the US GAAP and Economic Value Measurement (EVM) valuations for actual and projected results .
  • Trend analysis of Actuals Vs Estimates, further coordinate with Actuarial for quarterly closing
  • Support in IFRS implementation
  • Advance Validation and Reporting:
  • Understand the contractual agreement as signed between Swiss Re and the client, perform data validation with due diligence. This includes validations pertaining to Premiums, Claims & Underwriting clauses
  • Prepare product level synopsis as per client data, to derive valuable insights for the Portfolio Management, Actuarial & Products teams
  • Be-spoke validation basis the request from XFT teams-Generate and provide analysis of regular reports for a variety of functions on Technical Accounting data
  • Effectively engage with other business areas to identify and complete additional 'benefit' analytical support
  • Regulatory Reporting-Quarterly/Half yearly reporting to Finance, as per the regional regulatory requirement for APAC including ANZ in relation to VAT/GST/other taxes/Financial/APRA regulatory reporting
  • Swiss Re Asia Limited validation (SRAL): Required to validate for New treaties/addendum and provide inputs for Business Management Actuarial team for modelling the selected treaties for SRAL migration across Asia region
  • Validate new deals/treaties listed as Asia Key treaties and provide inputs to TA ops teams
  • Premium rate and complex validation: Validating and providing analysis using and implementing coding/formulas in tools like SAS, Advance excel/macros, Python etc. to assess risk and bring value by identifying variances along with providing quality assurance to upstream and down-stream functions

 

About You:

 

  • 3-5 years related experience, preferably in (re) insurance environment
  • Bachelor/Master's in Finance or Accounting, Insurance/Finance (IFRS 17) related certifications will be an added advantage
  • Strong data analytical skills, and knowledge of SQL domain with exposure to tools like SAS, R, Python, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence will be an added advantage
  • Strong technical PC skills, including MS Word, Excel (Pivot tables and macros), PowerPoint, Access, and Business Objects
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills - needed for communicating with a range of people, both internally and externally, as well as presentation skills
  • Insurance accounting experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of insurance and reinsurance products and features is preferred
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative business environment
  • Strong desire to learn and develop, receptive to coaching (both positive and critical)
