Technical Accountant II

The jobholder is accountable for effectively managing transactions for the allocated portfolios/end to end processing and ensuring deliverable are met (quality output within turnaround times defined) through adequate understanding of reinsurance accounting principles. One of the key activities is to ensure that payments received from clients (for example premiums) and payments made to clients (for example claims) reconcile against those payments expected. The client management façade of this role would require you to correspond with internal and external clients to resolve issues with respect to information, next steps, actionable, etc. Improvising while working within a set framework of policies and processes is key to the role.
Key Responsibilities:
The jobholder is accountable for effectively handling transactions for the allocated portfolios/end to end processing and ensuring targets are met quality output within defined turnaround times through adequate understanding of reinsurance accounting principles. The client management part of this role would require you to correspond with internal and external clients to resolve issues with respect to information & next course of action. Improvising & upskilling while working within a set framework of policies and processes is key to the role.
Principal Responsibilities towards:
Operations:
- Data Analytics
- Has worked on larger data (handled data of more than 10 lakh rows in excel)
- Has keen eye to details and can identify the outliers if not as per contractual terms
- Claims Validation
- Understanding the Contractual terms between Swiss re and the Client to ensure we pay the right claims as per the treaty terms
- Premium Rate Validation
- Perform premium rate validation to ensure we are receiving the right premiums from client
- Perform reconciliation between client reported figures and Swiss Re's contract
- Cash handling and reconciliation
- Analysis of unallocated cash balances & accruals
- Booking movement analysis vis-à-vis expected figures
- Sending regular chasers to the client for outstanding payment and accounts
- Insurance / Re insurance understanding
- Is aware of the concepts and terminologies in Insurance and Reinsurance
- Has interest to learn about market trend and new product introduced
- Is aware of the regulatory developments globally
People:
- Collaborate with team members and take accountability for team activities in specific markets.
- Deliver results in consultation and as part of multiple-matrixed teams besides directly assigned work.
- Be team player to achieve team targets and functional targets
Cross Functional Team Coordination:
- Build and develop strong line of Communication's with cross functional team's and contribute to strengthening client relationship.
- Handling efficient and effective relevant business processes, portfolios, and business coordination with Cross Functional Team's.
Desired Skills:
- Graduate/Postgraduate in Commerce, Accounting, Insurance or equivalent field
- Sound Insurance Product Knowledge & understanding of Insurance/Reinsurance Value Chain
- 3-5 years of work experience in the banking /insurance or any other financial services industry
- Strong Analytical skills (flair for figures)
- Good Knowledge in MS excel (formulas, pivot, advance excel), MS Access, SAS and SQL
- Effective interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills enabling to drive resulted oriented outcomes
- Ability to challenge the status quo & manage multiple stakeholders (multi-cultural and cross functional teams in a virtual set-up)
- Ability to substantially contribute to and work with multi-cultural and cross functional teams in a virtual set-up
- Being An agile team player with the ability to manage own workload and demonstrates a sense of Accountable, Responsible and Commitment
