Location: Bangalore, India

Are you a wordsmith who thrives at the intersection of technology and communication? Do you have a passion for transforming complex technical concepts into clear, compelling, and user-friendly documentation? If so, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact at one of the world's leading reinsurance companies — Swiss Re.

About the Role

We are on the lookout for a talented and driven Technical Writer to join our dynamic team in Bangalore. In this role, you will be at the heart of our product documentation strategy — crafting, refining, and publishing high-quality content that empowers our customers and internal teams alike. You will work in a fast-paced, agile environment alongside Scrum Masters, Product Managers, Product Owners, and Subject Matter Experts to deliver documentation that sets the gold standard for content maturity and usability.

This is not just a writing role — it is a chance to shape the future of how our products are understood, adopted, and loved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, research, plan, and author high-quality technical documentation that meets the highest standards of clarity and accuracy

  • Create and publish user guides, release notes, installation guides, and topic-based content on our online portal

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into clear technical specifications

  • Analyze and improve existing product documentation to enhance usability and incorporate feedback from customers and internal users

  • Define and document APIs, including REST/SOAP APIs, authentication mechanisms (OAuth2, JWT, API keys, Managed Identity), error handling, and response codes

  • Validate API contracts and ensure alignment with business and technical requirements

  • Support integration efforts across systems, including third-party applications, by documenting workflows, data mappings, and interface requirements

  • Identify dependencies, constraints, and technical risks early in the documentation and development lifecycle

  • Apply minimalism principles and adhere to corporate writing style guides to ensure consistency and quality across all content

  • Adapt quickly to new technologies, tools, and processes, demonstrating a strong sense of ownership and continuous improvement

  • Peer review documentation produced by colleagues to uphold quality standards across the team

About You

You are a curious, proactive, and detail-oriented professional who takes pride in producing documentation that truly makes a difference. You thrive in collaborative environments, communicate with confidence across technical and non-technical audiences, and bring a growth mindset to everything you do. You take ownership of your work, welcome feedback, and are always looking for ways to raise the bar.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • 4+ years of overall experience, including at least 2+ years in technical writing for complex, sophisticated documentation projects — experience in software product technical documentation is a strong advantage

  • Strong understanding of API design and integration patterns (REST, SOAP), including proficiency in JSON/XML structures and data interchange formats

  • Advanced proficiency with API tools such as Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, and RESTer, with the ability to validate API contracts and document integration workflows

  • Expert-level skills in XML-based authoring tools, with DITA standard experience strongly preferred

  • University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a comparable qualification / equivalent professional experience

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Experience with persona-based writing and user-centric content strategies

  • Working knowledge of system architecture and microservices-based design

  • Proficiency in Simplified Chinese or Japanese as an additional language

  • Familiarity with agile/scrum methodologies and working within cross-functional product teams

  • Experience with topic-based writing methodologies and structured content frameworks

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with software engineers and business stakeholders alike
