Job description
We are seeking an Underwriting Rules Analyst who will be a member of the Underwriting Solutions Centre team. You will be instrumental in evolving and supporting the current versions of our Automated Underwriting tool Magnum that is deployed with over 60 clients globally.
Your role will involve design, specification, development, testing and production of automated underwriting rules, enabling the regional Magnum implementation teams.
Magnum is a key product solution, enabling our clients to benefit from optimised operational processes and providing the foundation for future growth opportunities. This is an exciting time with Magnum as we are experiencing significant new client activity and continue to deliver the next generation version of the product.
The opportunity
The main responsibilities include: -
- You will identify, analyse and interpret key information meaningful to underwriting of life and health products to build optimal standard practice Automated Underwriting Rules.
- Producing clear specification documents, implementing Automated UW Rules (via a visual editor and coding), building and executing unit and scenario tests.
- Working to tight timelines and within defined processes. The ability to analyse data and underwriting outcomes to improve rule performance will compliment your core responsibilities.
- Building, maintaining and contributing to the development of industry recognized standard testing methodologies, processes and best practices.
Individuals will report to a local team manager. This is a full time role.
About you
- Overall experience of 7+ years in the Banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector with exposure in the IT (Information technology) projects
- Experience working with automated underwriting systems, automated UW rule writing and testing is highly preferred
- Good knowledge of SDLC and Agile Methodology is preferred
- Direct insurance or reinsurance (Life and Health) is beneficial
- Strong Analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Well-developed decision-making and problem-solving capabilities. Familiarity with Business Analysis tools or Process engineering a plus.
- Excellent time management and interpersonal skills.
- Proven potential to work in a team & to work autonomously.
- Ability to build rapport & maintain positive relationships with the team, market underwriters and other important partners.
- Understanding of Java/Javascript is considered is preferred
- Show true teamwork, have a flexible and team-based approach to working with the ability to work independently and take personal accountability
- Proficient IT skills including ability to utilize some of the advanced features of Word/Excel/Access / JIRA tool.
- Willing to learn, up-skill and have a drive for professional development
- Should be able to perform in high pressure environment independently or with minimal support
